Product Information

This stainless steel gas tube is designed so the rifle can be adjusted to the ammunition being fired. Gas pressure can be increased for lighter loads for better cycling, or decreased when using heavier loads for less wear and tear on internal components. This gas tube is also ideal for bringing older barrels with eroded gas ports back to life. Drop-in, no gunsmithing required.

Good product in theory. Does not fit under a YHM floating handguard. Screw is very loose. Without locktite, I doubt it would hold the adjustment. Returning item.

I installed the ...

I installed the adjustable gas tube to the gas block, and the setscrew adjustment housing was not standing vertical, but noticeably canted or rotated off to one side. The tube itself was properly positioned to the upper. When I went to re-install my YHM Diamond free float tube, I discovered that the gas adjuster protrudes up too far, above the low profile gas block, and would not allow the one piece YHM free float tube to be installed at all. Looks like the adjustable gas tube can only be installed with either two-piece free-float tubes or standard AR plastic forearms. I have not seen any documentation that would warn of this limitation, causing me to waste time and money. Quality of the part seems good, but the adjuster set screw seemed pretty loose. I am skeptical that it would stay set, once adjusted.

I installed this tube on ...

I installed this tube on my mid-length Noveske bbl with a Daniel Defense 14" hand guard. Because of the hand guard, I could not use Noveske's adjustable gas block. I have yet to install a suppressor, which is why I made this purchase, so I don't know yet if it is versatile enough to do the job, but it fit perfectly and I was extremely pleased that the adjustment valve lined up perfectly with one of the holes in the top rail of my hand guard. It worked as advertised without a suppressor and has performed flawlessly for the first 500 rounds.

I am sure it works just ...

I am sure it works just fine. However it will not fit on a bull barrel, so I could not use it. I just got a regular gas tube. It seemed like it was of sturdy construction and put together good.

Ordered this product to ...

Ordered this product to cure hard recoil and and reduce the damage to the brass for reloading. It got the job done! started at 1 1/2 turns and closed it down until it was stopping on the carrier not the bolt then opened it again. It is set at approximately 3/4 turn. As a side benefit it visibly reduced carbon fouling on the bolt. After 60 rounds the firing pin used to be completely black. After installing the MGI adjustable gas tube the firing pin is now dark grey with some black. recoil also was reduced. The brass has less scratching and there is no damage to the case rim now. I have an Osprey two piece four rail handguard on the rifle. I had to drill a hole in the top rail to get the handguard on. The rail cover, covers this hole up.

Worked as advertised. ...

Worked as advertised. Saved my sale of 2 AR-15's custom built. Regulated to correct gas pressure for that cheaper ammo in Rem .223 and non-reloadable in 55gr and 62gr using barrel with 1-9 twist in a 16"carbine length. Quad rail worked by drilling a hole in top of rail to allow adjustment. Hole drilled looks very good.

Does what it's supposed ...

Does what it's supposed to do, regulates gas. Regulates gas similar to the JP gas block, however, the regulator is small enough to fit under traditional A2-style handguards. Also, the regulator is positioned so that it is accessible from the first "vent hole" on the handguard. All I did was install gas tube, bottomed out the regulator screw, gave it a quarter turn, took to the range and it functioned flawlessly. Installation was pretty easy, but you need to have all the proper tools to remove the front sight. It doesn't come with a roll pin, so be aware you may need to pick one of these up if you dont plan on using the old one. Also, if you order this for a carbine-sized rifle, and you've never replaced a gas tube, just be prepared for how short this thing is. I removed it from the box and kept thinking to myself "did I order the right tube?" Don't worry, its the correct length for a 16" bbl.

I had a CAR-15 that gave ...

I had a CAR-15 that gave me fits for years. Brass was sticking in the chamber, it was cycling way too hard, and double-feeding. It appeared that the chamber pressure was still way too high during extraction. I was going to pull the bolt and leave it with the rim-fire conversion installed, and just keep it as a .22 practice rifle. I took a chance and installed this gas tube. The instructions said to open the adjustment 1-1/2 turns, test fire, then open it 1/4 turn until the rifle functioned reliably. My AR-15 functioned right away. In fact, I closed it down to 3/4 turn and left it that way. I haven't had a malfunction since I installed the tube. Best money that I could have spent.

I got the adj. gas tube ...

I got the adj. gas tube with the notion that it would help reduce blow back when using a suppressor. And it does. I turn off the gas port when running a suppressor and the added backpressure of the suppressor cycles the gun perfectly. The only problem I have found is that I cannot run a rail type fore-arm as these do not have a hole on the top to allow adjustment of the tube.
