Product Information

These revolutionary bullets from Barnes are made of 100% copper and contain no lead. When the bullet expands, four razor-sharp cutting petals are created, allowing the bullet to penetrate farther through tough bone and tissue. These bullets usually retain 100% of their original weight, making them a superb choice for hunting. Barnes recommends initially seating bullets 0.050" off the lands. Best accuracy will be found from 0.030" to 0.070" depending on the rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

I shot a big Colorado ...

I shot a big Colorado bull elk with this bullet loaded in my 300 win mag. The shot was 260 yards slightly quartering away, full penetration and exit of the animal with massive damage to the vitals. I use IMR4831 and CCI #250 primers with groups not exceeding 3/4". The techs at Barnes explained to me that the 165 TSX is actually designed for use in the 300 win mag and IMR4831 was their powder of choice. I took their advise and was amazed to say the least. I am completely satisfied with Barnes bullets because they are supremely accurate, easy to load, no fouling problems and are 100% reliable.

This is a real hunting bullet. I shoot a lot and test way more than the average; the Barnes X bullets are the real deal. I had a 165 gr. go dead center through a 6" tree and recovered the bullet under the deer hide as it almost passed through. Another time, the hollow point opened on a thin edge of skin just behind the shoulder. It put a golf ball size hole though the deer. These were from my .308 at about 2600 fps. VERY NICE. Nothing does more damage and stays together.

One shot, one mule deer dropped in his tracks to the 30-06. At 70 yards quartering to, shot entered base of neck/brisket and exited opposite short ribs. Exceptional expansion evident by large wound through the lungs and ribs. The TSX is easy to load to typical leadcore velocities with standby powders in the 30-06. Follow seating recommendations and experiment with depth for best accuracy. I would not hesitate to take game heavier than elk with this bullet.

How many of you have lost a nice trophy due to inadequate penetration? Buy this bullet and sin no more. My wife recently purchased a 300 WSM after losing a nice axis deer after shooting it with a smaller caliber rifle. She is currently shooting this bullet and has two spectacular kills thus far. The first was a 300 plus boar hog with 2" shields and the bullet passed completely through both. The second was the largest whitetail taken on our little hunting club and he fell like lightning struck him. Again complete pass through, I would like to provide some information about blood trails but so far, where they stand is where they fall. I followed Barnes recommendation for barrel break in and the groups are right at an inch at 100 yards. These may cost a bit more than plain jacketed bullets but I assure you they are worth the price. I can't say enough good things about this bullet.

Superb accuracy. I'm developing a load for the .300 WSM in a Model 1885 Winchester single shot. Using Barnes loading recommendations, I got groups that were less than four tenths of an inch center to center at 100 yards -- a clover leaf. I'm astounded and very pleased. This is the kind of accuracy you'd hope for in a long range prairie dog load in one of the sub-calibers, for an elk gun, it is far more than expected.And besides, its a real pretty bullet.

We were out sighting in today at 116 yards with these. My buddy had just bought a 300Win mag from me, and I reloaded some of these up for him. I used Reloader 22 and the guidelines that Barnes provides. Even starting at mid velocity they shot well. The final groupings were just over 1/2 inch, for a 3 shot group off of the bipod out of the back of his truck! And this win mag has a history of being VERY finicky! The only other load it ever shot like this was the Sierra 175 MKGood hunting

I loaded these for my father in law for use in his Winchester Model 70 30-06 with a 22" barrel.He shot a cow elk at 480 yards (measured with a Leica 1200 LRF). The frontal shot penetrated the cow in the chest, hit lungs, and lodged in the ponch. The elk ran about 30 yards and dropped.I have never seen such massive penetration, especially at such a long distance. The performance of this bullet is very impressive!

I used this bullet on a hunt this past weekend behind IMR 7828 moving at almost 3200 fps in a 300 win Mag at 150 yards. The only shot on him was front on. The Shilen Select match grade barrel directed that bullet through the neck down the left side liquefying both lungs. It came to rest in the left hind quarter protruding through the skin. It was a perfect mushroom with 98% weight retention. WOW. I will never use any thing else!

My test loads for the 165grain Triple shock were less than .75", 3 shots at 100yds., in a 30-06, using the same powder charge I have used in other 165gr. loads.
