Update: I decided to fix ...

Update: I decided to fix the problem so I could use the adjusting tool.I discovered the center hole where the sight post should fit was not drilled properly in depth and diameter. Simply take a drill bit of the next largest size and drill into the tool using a cordless drill. That should allow the post to seat properly, and thus allow the prongs to clasp onto the sight. Problem fixed!

I bought this tool along with the keychain version. It did not break when I first used it, but the prongs are not long enough to fully depress the detent in the sights. So what I had to do was push down the detent with a punch and use the tool to rotate the sight. What a waste of time. It could have been a useful tool if they designed it properly.

Great product!
Too big to lose, too small to get in the way.
The checkered handle is a great idea.
A lanyard hole could be of use.

Works great on all 4 of the a2 style front sight posts I've tried but they were all ordered from the DPMS website or were DPMS brand. Keeps me from scratching up my front sight when adjusting or replacing the post. I did have to drill out the center with a 1/8'' drill bit though but I didnt mind.

Ok, I was worried about the reviews from people who said this tool doesn't fit, but it DOES fit on my Colt AR-15 A2 HBAR (bought new in 1996). At first, it didn't want to fit, and it took a certain amount of wiggling in order to get it aligned just right. I have to admit, at first, I thought it wouldn't fit. I came back to it a few minutes later to give it another shot - and it fit! Once it's aligned and inserted, it works great, but don't be surprised if it takes more than a few seconds to get it in correctly. Only 4 stars because it's a little hard to get in there.

One of the pins were bent making the tool worthless. Had to send it back for a refund. Just use the tip of a 5.56 round, has worked for years in the Army.

The first time I used it, it wouldn't grab the indentations of my A2 style flip up back up iron sights and thought "Oh well, not much money lost". Decided to give it another try later in the evening and made sure to line up prongs with sight indentations. Pressed a little harder than you think you should and it finally worked as stated. I guess the finish on the prongs of the tool were enough to gum it up the first timeand not make it work. Subsequent uses found it to work very well. Would have given it 5 stars, but the initial failure was and is enough to throw people off and make them think it does not work. BTW I used it on a Bushmaster XM15-E2S Modular Carbine with Flip-Up B.U.I.S.

This tool works great. I bought this for my Magpul MBUS front sight, and it fits perfectly. The prongs on the tool were slightly bent but after a couple of seconds work with a set of pliers and the tool was good-to-go.
