Simple to install, but I ...

Simple to install, but I have not seen any appreciable reduction in group size as a result. For the price and piece of mind that comes from adding this kit to my rifle, I suppose it is worth it. But in my case, I did not see any benefit in terms of accuracy. Still have to get it out in different conditions to see if point of impact is any more consistent in varying weather conditions, and this may prove to be the only benefit I see in my rig from this product.

Comments about Volquartsen Bedding System Ruger 10/22:

I am upgrading my rating of this product to 5 stars since I have learved something about barrel harmonics and am learning to "tune" my rifle by adjusting the position of the barrel pad lengthwise along the stock. This has a profound effect on the size of my groups at 50 and 100 yards. Volquartsen does not mention this in the installation instructions, only saying to place it 1/2 inch from the end of the stock. But with my factory rifle stock, I free-floated the barrel and placed the pad that comes with the kit 1/2 inch from the end of the stock in the barrel groove as indicated. I shot 36 different brands of ammo like this and could not get 10-shot 100-yard groups any tighter than 1 3/8 inches even with a trigger job and Clark Custom 21 1/2 inch bull barrel. With some trial and error, moving the pad around within the last 4 inches of the stock, I am now finding this baby can shoot ten shots into under an inch at 100 yards with several brands of ammo. I hope I can fine tune it to do even better. If you buy this kit, be sure to experiement with the placement of the pad in the barrel groove! If I can find a sweeter "sweet spot," I will post the results here.
