Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunting bullets have been trusted by hunters for nearly 25 years. They are precision made and individually inspected for the utmost quality which translates to incredible accuracy with every shot. The heavy jacket base prevents bullet deformation during firing and holds together at extreme velocities as well as a polycarbonate tip that resists deformation in the magazine and initiates expansion upon impact. The bullet's mid-section keeps it together at any velocity until impact, and a uniform, pure lead core eliminates possible imbalance and erratic flight caused by air pockets. Great for thin-skinned game like deer, antelope and sheep. This is not loaded ammunition.

I have used these for years in many different calibers. I have never lost a deer with these and 99% of them have dropped in their tracks. On my reloading scales, they are extremely consistant in weight and on the range deadly accurate but... I am a little concerned over exit wounds lately. Nosler needs to stiffen up the bullet a litte more to keep it together longer. My theory is that the front of bullet fragments and does the job it needs to, but the only thing exiting is the base and it only leaves a hole the size of a pencil. If the blood from the animal coagulates, it will plug the wound and leave virtually no blood trail, resulting in lost and wasted game. Thinking about tryng Hornady SSTs to remedy this problem, but the ones I have bought do not measure up to the weight consistancies I get from Ballistic Tips when I weigh them on my reloading scales. Nosler should address this problem and lower the price to stay competetive with other brands or they may lose customers in the future.

I have been using this bullet since its introduction in a 7mm Mag (Model 70 Win.)and a .280 Rem (Ruger M-77R). Initially I had nothing but fantastic results from it. It is still the most accurate bullet ever fired from both rifles. The Ruger consistently groups into 1/2" @ 100yds with this bullet and a maximum load of Alliant RL-19, at about 3050 fps.I also had come to expect quick kills with this bullet. However, apparently Nosler has changed something in the construction, as I am now experiencing failures to expand, or inadequate expansion, with the last batch of these I purchased (not from Midway). I loaded 25 of the last box for my .280 and have fired eight at deer and one at an antelope.The antelope was at 420 yds and it dropped after about three steps, as expected, and expansion appeared to be perfect as well. The deer have ranged from 40 to 275 yds and ranged in size from 100 to 232 lbs live weight. All were hit properly in the heart/lung area. They all ran from 100 to 350 yards except the last one (a 230lb, 8-pt, shot at 40 yds), that went a little over 1/2 mile and was still very alive when found. This deer was hit in the right shoulder, and the shoulder and upper leg bone were broken, the bullet traveled through both lungs and punched out thru the left shoulder blade. The entry wound was pencil sized and the exit wound was, at most, dime sized. I would have expected a nearly fist-sized exit wound after hitting that much bone.The deer ran further, and the exit wounds decreased in size, as the range decreased (and impact velocity increased) on all these deer. This is the reverse of what you would expect. I am returning some of these bullets and some loaded ammo to Nosler to see if they find something wrong with them or if this what I can continue to expect from these bullets. In the meantime, I'll be hunting with Hornady 139gr SST's in my .280.

Blew up inside two whitetails

Shot two whitetail ( one 8pk/142 lbs.,one doe 104 lbs. ) with these bullets in a custom 284 Win @ 2935fps (R17 powder) (chronographed). One was at 119 yds & the other at 129 yds. both shots were classic "just behind the shoulder" shots from the right side angling slightly forward. Both deer dropped where they stood but I was really suprised to find that with BOTH shots the bullets blew apart on the far side & did not exit. I can't understand how or why these bullet blew apart at that velocity & range. I'll be useing Accubonds or Partitions in the future becaude I LIKE exit holes!

Ok so here is the update from my earlier posting. Finally settled on an oal of 2.830 for this round. A good charge of IMR4895. Shot a lot of these getting ready for deer season. Have it shooting in the .55 range for 3 shots @ 100 and 1.20 for 3 @ 200 all day. 12/1 shot a 211lb dressed 11 point buck. 200 yd. uphill shot taking out 1 lung and breaking his back. To me in a ballistic tip this is great results will continue using them. Going to try them in my new 280 and my 308.

I use this bullet in the deer loads for my 18 1/2" barreled 7mm08 Remington Model Seven. H414 pushes it just over 2700 fps. I get groups of under 1" at 100 yds with this. I've been using this bullet since around the time it was introduced. The last deer I shot with one was a 3 pointer muley at around 80 yds. with a shoulder shot. He fell forward and dropped on the spot. This was with a bullet made in the early '90s, so I hope my next box of them is as good.

I loaded these with a near max charge with IMR-4350 for a 7mm Remington Magnum. I sent them to my brother who said he was going to try them on Elk in Wyoming. He shot two bulls out past 300 yards both with one shot kills. So forget what people say about these bullets being too soft to shoot thick hided animals! If you do your part the bullets will perform flawlessly.

Last Saturday was our deer season opener here in Minnesota. Using this bullet, out of my 7mm-08, I shot a nice 6 point buck standing broadside at 225yds.. Shot him a bit higher than I wanted, but got center of the lungs. Bullet made a complete pass through. Bullet expansion was obvious, but not huge. He tried to run after being hit but it was obvious he was mortally wounded and really couldn't really get going. He made it only 30 yds. Bullet did its job in my opinion. I will use this bullet again in my 7mm-08. This bullet should continue to perform well at 7mm-08 velocities. This bullet is very accurate too. Testing this past summer proved that. I will use the AccuBond in my 7mm Remington magnum though.

I bought these for breaking in a barrel on a 7-08 TC Venture. Loaded them with a book mid charge of IMR4895. WOW did they shoot by the end of breaking in the barrel I was getting .95 groups all day long. I just bought 2 more boxes for working up a hunting load will push the powder charge up 1 grain and seat the bullets a little longer. I can get an oal of 2.833 in my magazine which will be about a .025 jump. Will be back with an update as soon as I do some more range work.

Just started using these bullets last year and will not shoot anything else out of my TC Venture 7-08. Bullets fly well and so far on the 2 deer I have shot hold up well. The first was an average sized 6 point @ 50 yards. High shoulder hit and down he went. The second was a large doe killed by my son @ just under 300 yards. Double lung plenty of blood from the 3 inch exit wound. Will be trying these in 30 cal this year.

I load my own ammo for the 280 Remington and shoot it in my Remington 700AS, with free floated barrel, bedded action, and lightened trigger. Shooting off a bench, I shoot 1/2 inch groups at 200 meters with IMR 4350 and Rem 9 1/2 primer. The rifle is zeroed for 50 meters, shoots 1.5" high at 100 meters, and 2.0" low at 200 meters. I strive to shoot deer in the head, so I either kill them or not! No wounded animals, no wasted meat. This is the most accurate round I have found for my rifle.

I purchased 3 boxes from 3 different distributors with the same part number. They were very inconsistent from box to box. I had to adjust the seating depth by .060 on one batch. Very frustrating.
