Not quite as sturdy as my 30 year old Sheridan, but for the price I cannot complain about the accuracy. It is not as rugged as a high end air rifle and that is to be expected. This is my go to air rifle for starlings, chipmunks, and other vermin that attack my garden.

This is a nice airgun. The scope is a cheapy but it gets the job done. The sound reduction is noticable. In a earlier review there is an incorrect statement about suppressors. The real scoop on suppressors is that they work within subsonic velocities, not supersonic speeds! When a round reaches supersonic speed it makes a sonic crack. This crack is very loud and can be heard from far distances. Subsonic rounds dont make the sonic crack and can be made much quieter with a supressor. Gamo has always made a great product and this rifle is no exception.

Well for starters, the whisper .22 is by far the loudest pellet gun I've ever owned, do not buy this gun for its false advertised quietness. All the noise is from the spring piston. A suppressor only works when a projectile is traveling supersonic, or 1,129 fps. Buy a beeman if you want a quiet rifle in .22. I bought it because I thought it looked cool and have had good luck with gamo in the past. The scope is a cheap piece of junk they throw in to help sales, but the fiber optics are superb, with the front being fully enclosed in metal. Don't use PBA raptor ammo either, its a gimmick manufactured soley to attain high speeds for advertising, it dosent even fit snug in the barrel, and will destroy your barrel's throat over time and is not accurate.I use beeman crow magnums, and they are incredibly accurate, and due to their weight(kinetic energy) I have achieved close to 50% expansion with head shots to squirrels and rabbits. Its a solid rifle, but for the money you can buy a better gun, and quieter one, but it sure wont look as tacticool as this one.

Don't know what the other guy is talking about as far a noise.This is a very good shooting rifle groups well out to 50 yards1 inch groups with RWS 14.3 grain pointed pellets.But as with all springers depend on the pellet!! It is quite the shooter hears it noise from the spring but I stood off to the side 10 feet and it sounded Quite to me.The trigger is the only bad thing about it tho..GTR-111 trigger fixes that!!

I recently purchased the Gamo Whisper in 22 Cal and love the rifle. It's quiet with lead pellets but loud with PBA pellets. It looks cool, easy to cock,load and accurate with medium weight pellets. I was told by airgunsmiths not to use pellets lighter than 13.5 or heavier than 15 grains as you can damage the spring in springer air rifles. The scope is cheap and you will likely replace it. The sights are great and Gamo air rifles can be tuned-up to last longer and shoot better. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and its an excellent shooter and pest control tool.
