The Otis Micro Rifle Gun Cleaning Kit contains the essentials needed to clean your firearm utilizing the Otis patented Breech-to-Muzzle cleaning method. Complete instructions are included.

Technical Information: Otis Micro Rifle Gun Cleaning Kit

Kit Contains:

30" Flex Rod with Forged Brass Tip
½ oz. Cleaner
10 Patches
Bore Brush

Notes:

Complete instructions included.
Flexible rod allows user to clean the gun from the chamber end.
Will not function properly in Ruger 10/22 as it will not make the turn unless the bolt is removed.

Additional Information:

On some rifles (such as 22 rimfire semi-automatcis and small frame revolvers) you may not be able to get the tip into the chamber because it is too long when assembled on the rod.
Take the tip off and put the patch on as you normally would. Put the tip into the chamber just as if you were inserting a shell.
Turn the cleaning rod in a clockwise direction and reattach the tip. Pull the powder residue and debris out of the barrel in the natural direction of the bullet.
The same procedure will be needed for the brush. In some rare cases the brush cannot be used.
Repeat this step each time until the firearm is clean. You may want to try the small caliber equipment on the 22 rimfire.

Great for the BOB

I have several of these in BOBs, range bags, and cleaning kit. Easy to pack, and they work great. Think of it as a multi caliber boresnake.

On some rifles (10/22 for example), the stock brush is too long to make the turn unless the bolt is removed. Easy solution is to cut the brush back. Once you get used to using the patches, it's very easy. You can even use standard square patches once you pierce the patch. I filed a small edge on the patch holder to facilitate the use of other patches should I need them. The change will never contact the barrel since is pulled (instead of pushed) through.

This works great for guns ...

This works great for guns with large ports or slots to eject the shell, but for the smaller calibers like the 22LR. Pistol the cleaning brush is too long to fit in those short ejection slots. Try the boar snake for the 22LR .

I started using Otis products since they first appeared and have found they did a great job and are easy to use. Everyone on my team used this product. I would always keep a couple of extra kits in my ruck for horse trade, needless to say everyone I know who has ever used one was very impressed with how simple, thorough and quick they could clean their rifle. You can also use regular GI patches if you use Otis's pierce and fold method. This cleaning system is so simple it would seem to be impossible to mess this up.

I purchased this kit only ...

I purchased this kit only to acquire the cable itself and it is a great cleaning item. It easily rolls up and stores in the grips of the Tapco T6 stocks, Butler Creek folders, etc. There's no need to try to figure out how to use the several round patches included with the kit; I use the cable with regular square patches and the included bore brush and they work fine. I keep a set of all three items in each of my rifle grips and I'm always prepared for a field cleaning.

It works faster than my cleaning rod. I am not to crazy about the brass brush, it's like reapplying what your trying to get rid off. They should pack it with nylon or stainless brush.

I can't imagine a better, simpler system. I wish I had thought of it. I see in some other reviews that every component may not be optimized for every application, but these things are easily remedied. I highly recommend this product, and if you have a rimfire revolver or semi auto get the 17-22 version too. A great product!

Worst cleaning kit I have ever used. Despite folding the included patches exactly as they say on the awful, awful instructions, it is impossible to pull the cable and patch through the bore (unless you want the patch to rip and become stuck). Don't buy this junk.

Don't buy this cleaning ...

Don't buy this cleaning kit if you want it for your 10/22 or any other .22 that does not afford you straight-through access to the breech. You can't negotiate the turn out of the ejection port. You need to remove the action in order to use it. Pain in butt. Better off with a bore snake. Requires specialty patches, too, but you can use regular 2" patches that you've incised after their pattern. Again, pain in butt. Otherwise, does a good job, but slow and tedious road to get there.
