Product Information

Speer Hot-Cor Flat Nose Bullets are designed for safe use in firearms with tubular magazines. These bullets also hold together better because the Hot-Cor process eliminates the lead oxide layer that's found between the core and jacket of conventional "cold core" bullets. This translates into a bullet that offers deeper penetration and greater expansion that is needed for taking larger game. This is not loaded ammunition.

4 stars only because have not tried them on game yet... I am new to reloading, my first load at max charge of varget groups better than factory ammo... very pleased. couple inches high at 100 yds., dead on at 200....

Recently tried these out in my 1895 Marlin 336 30-30 and accuracy was OK but not impressive using a max load of H4895. Luckily I tried the same load in my wife's 20" Marlin 336 and accuracy was under 1" at fifty yards. I was bracing my target on a large oak branch that Hurricane Irene knocked down about 3 months ago. I fired at a six inch diameter limb expecting the bullet to fragment on impact and not penetrate. On inspection the entry hole was slightly larger than bullet size and I initially thought my theory confirmed. Checking the back of the branch revealed an exit hole the size of a silver dollar with all of the wood blown completely out leaving a near perfect funnel shaped hole. I believe this load and round would be devastating on deer. I ordered 2 more boxes yesterday.

Loaded some of these up for my 300 rcm. At 2700 fps, they grouped at <1" at 200 yards. Yes, at 200 yards. Shot a large whitetail doe at about 175 yards. Complete pass through and excellent terminal performance. The doe went about 30-40 yards and folded up with both lungs showing massive destruction. Very impressive to say the least.

Excellent terminal ballistics on whitetails and hogs. I shoot these in an old Win 94, receiver peep sight-under 1 1/2" to 2" at 100yds. Just make sure you shoot big hogs through the lungs or head, NOT the shoulders.

This bullet was shot at 2650 fps into wet newspaper and compared with a 150 gn Hornady Interlock at 2700 fps. It out penetrated the Hornady by 5 inches with an identical wound channel. Then, my son shot a whitetail doe at 75 yards through both lungs with the same load out of his 30-06. The exit wound under the skin was silver dollar size after centering a rib. The doe ran 60-80 yards and piled up (about 3 seconds). We tried only one load using H4895 and his Ruger shot about 1 1/2" groups. I'm sure it would have shot much better with further load development. At 2650 fps, this is a very pleasant load to shoot. I was impressed with this "30-30" bullet and will use it more.

Excellent Bullet for 100yrd. shots or less. I am keeping quarter and 50 cent peice size grouping in my 30-30 marlin with 32.5 grns. of H-VARGET. I highly recommend this bullet.

I have not used this on an animal yet but it was impressive in a stack of wet newspaper. At a muzzle velocity of about 2650 fps, penetration was 16.5 inches. A 150 grain Hornady Interlock SP at 2740 fps penetrated only 13.0 inches. The wound channels were nearly identical. I shot only one load with the Speer and accuracy was 1.0" at 100 yards, which is good enough for my purposes.

I use this bullet to make loads for a 308 Browning (clip-fed) lever action which is used by a friends daughter. I use load data from the lightest 307-Win data and get 2500+ fps and good hunting accuracy. Gun/scope is zeroed for 75-yds which works well in this area.This load sent this bullet through the chest of a 4-Pt buck at about 20 steps, (typical for this area.) A happy hunter was the result.She reports that the load has a "surprisingly gentle kick" and easy to shoot well with.My one complaint is that the feeding is occasionally hampered when the flat tip catches on some surface on its way into battery. Only a slight annoyance but I cannot give 5 stars as a result.Excellent for the chosen purpose though. Good bullet.

shoots better in lever guns than anything I has used and works really good at 200 yds in my 7.5 . Not a bad target bullet in my 308 tactical at 285 yds.
