Sits too low !

Like one other reviewer I had to put a riser under this sight to use it on an AR flattop, it just sits too low by itself to be comfortable.
Now that it's sitting higher, it works fine... but making my neck sore cost it two stars.

I was looking for forward mounting optics for my M1A Squad Scout when I came across this. I thought I'd give it a try before buying the very expensive ACOG or Eotech. I've put approximatley 400 rounds through the rifle with sight so far, and I am getting 2" groupings at 100 yards. Clarity is good, and it seems to be holding up. I am happy, and I'll holdoff on the ACOG for now.

Mounted this sight on a ...

Mounted this sight on a flattop M-4 style AR. I needed a .5 inch riser to get it to the proper height. Sight-in was easy but the unit stopped functioning after about 10 rounds. The dot failed to light up in the scope. Replacing the battery did not help but inside the battery housing under the battery is a retention ring that was loose. After tightening the ring, function returned as normal. Glass is as bright and clear as would be expected for the price. Target acquisition is fast and easy. I would not recommend this unit for serious work. Great for casual plinking. Cant testify as to durability or lack thereof with such little use. At this point, overall good value for the price.

Product is well made for the money. I am expremely impressed, although I have not taken my Bushmaster to the range yet to sight it. I have an A2 style front sight and needed to purchase a Picantinny riser to mount the sight. With the riser, the red dot sits exactly where you would aim above the front sight post.
