1st, I purchased the Hornady Case Prep Center to replace my RCBS Case prep center thinking the all in one trim, deburr, clean etc.. was the way to go. I have a nice, but small area to work. 2nd, Believe me when I say, I love Hornady reloading products, I use the Lock-N-Load Progressive Press, Bullets, Cases, etc.ButNever sell this Case Prep to a machinist! The sixth grade engineering that went into this product is like something from a China copy of an American Made Machine that works. You have aluminum guide ways against steel leads that will gall from use in no time. The graduation, (Please!?... The Knurl!?.. With Not Even A Reference Point!?) Spend three seconds and do it right! The case holder does not line up with the trim pilot, the clearance from table mount to the tools required is too shallow for a mans hands (especially with the chip tray installed), And a problem you should have not even been so cheep at is, All of the bare aluminum should have been machined with a carbide insert cutter, or a carbide end mill, instead of the dullest high speed end mill you could find in your shop! The finish that your buyer has to look at daily will sell (or not sell) your quality, and i.e. your product. Word of mouth is still your best advertising, and this entire town comes to me to learn.

I have seen some negative and some positive comments about this case prep tool. I am not sure why or how someone could have negative comments. I use this tool at least once a week and sometimes twice a week. I usually run 200 to 500 case batches, so you do the math!! I have not one bad comment about this product. Runs smooth, runs strong and does everything I ask of it. I have large hands, so the one review talking about his large man hands... well I don't see that being an issue, and I wear X-Large gloves. I don't have any issue with the aluminum to steel that was mentioned and it's been running for well over a year now. Adjustments are easy and it hold the settings. The case Cam lock is great and it lines up perfect with the cutter and pilot everytime. I can't think of a better way to prep my cases, I also use this for my 223/5.56 case forming to 300 Blackout.

I'm writing this review as I prepare to purchase a standalone case trimmer. There are two major issues with this product. First, it is inconsistent from one case to the next, which is due in part to the shell holding mechanism that mimics some of the cheap hand driven case trimmers. The second is the lack of any means of gauging the depth of the cut except by trial and error. Great concept, poor implementation.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the others. Good concept, bad craftsmanship. Pilot won't line up and the speed could be a tad faster. I use this to get the cases close then my manual trimmer to top it off. Still helps me save time.

This thing is the bomb. ...

This thing is the bomb. It takes a little while to learn how to get the most from this machine. I like the fact that you can use Lyman and RCBS tooling on it. The only thing that is a draw back is the bottom tray is in the way and makes using the lower stations a little hard. I fixed this problem with a 2"X8"X10" Wood Block and used a Router to make a cavity for the tray to lay in. I love this thing and will get another.

I was very dissatisfied with this product. The product was manufactured extremely poorly. It looked as though it was a high school shop class project! It was very difficult to adjust and set up. Further, the necessity for several additional shell holders (at $5 to $8 apiece) is inexcusable given that a universal collet could certainly be employed. Moreover, when a case was lowered it would not line up with the pilot. One had to guide the case onto the pilot with one's finger. Additionally, movement of the lowering lever was rough and jerky probably due to a poor design, manufacturing or both. I sent it back the very next day. Do not purchase this product!

This is a great addition ...

This is a great addition to any reloader. It is not perfect but it does a good job. Mine came in with no instruction manual. It was pretty easy to figure out. Anyone that is half way mechanically inclined can figure it out. It would have been nice to have known what comes with it. A note to anyone planning on ordering this. RCBS shellholders will not work. The hole in the center is smaller than Hornady shellholders.

Two returns one to Midway ...

Two returns one to Midway USA and one to Hornady. Both were handled great. The problem is with the case prep center. First one did not work the second one after 500 or so cases needed the cutter bearing replaced it was loose and osilating. The case length adjustment could have been much better with a micrometer dial. This is a great idea and does save time but the quality needs to be stepped up. Sorry for the poor review Hornady hopes this helps some of you.

Over 4,000 308 cases ...

Over 4,000 308 cases trimmed, chamfered, and deburred and still works as good as when I bought it. This is a real time saver and it's easy to use. Trimmer is very accurate and the chamfer/deburr tools are very easy and fast to use. I love this thing and can't imagine not having one now that I have this beast. It weighs enough that you don't have to bolt it down either. Now it's time to prep some 30-06.

This tool looks ...

This tool looks professional but has a lot of bugs to be worked out of. The cases are trimmed out of square by a few thousands and there is bearing play in the cutter shaft after 3000 case trimmings. The outside case trimmer is a joke. Its made from soft steel and goes dull quickly. I use the RCBS tools as they fit on this machine and are far superior. The cases are held in position by friction of a O-ringand the shell holder has a tendency to move if not locked down tightly. I would bet some revisions will be made to this machine in the near future because the concept is good but cost cutting came into play.

I purchased the product after looking at all reviews and based on Hornady reputation, I was not displeased. I found no evidence of galling since there is zero heat build up on dissimilar metals. Alignment of cutter is near perfect when shell holder is properly installed; I did find issue using Lee shell holders. Measure you case for proper trim, set the adjustment and it just trims. I like the slower rotational speed which allows better control of operation. A time saver!
