I have used this ammo for over 20 years with an "81"Browning Lever Rifle and it has never taken more than one shot (except my first deer) to drop the 20+ animals in their tracks. Shot one one the run at 70 yards and dropped like he was hit by lightning. In skinning animals I have found the bullet performs by not overly fragmenting but keeps 85 to 90% of its weight intact and peels back into a very wide and lethal mushroom. This is cartridge performs real well in the BLR 20" barrel at the ranges which I get opportunities, less than 150 yards and as close as 35 yards.

Worse 243 ammo I ever used! Shot a 9 point buck at 25yards 3 times in the front shoulder a cpl of yr ago and lost that nice buck it act like flies hitting him ever time I shot I know I hit that buck because ever shot I hit him with I seen blood and hair come up on his shoulder I sold that 243 and will never use one again on deer. Ok for varmints. I went back to my good ole Remington 270 never had any problems out of it, I love Winchester ammo but the 243 stuff to me aint no good for large game.

I recently shot a white tail buck with the 243 Winchester 100gr powerpoint ammo. The shot was almost exactly 100yds. The bullet struck the lower part of the spine and then angled dowward taking out one lung and stopped under the hide on the opposite side of the animal. The deer died quickly. I recovered the bullet and found that it had shed 56% of its weight in the deer, and expanded to .374. Obviously it expended all of its energy in the deer. Accuracy is sub MOA at 100yds out of a Sako Forester Mannlicher gun. Excellent ammo, and the price is right too!

I have handloaded for seven years and compete in IHMSA as well as PALMA. I CANNOT load a more accurate .243 round even with a match bullet. I have tried for a year. I used to buy this for the brass, to reload. I soon realized my Savage loved it and deer crumple when hit with it. Buy what shoots well out of your gun, but think about it, more deer have fallen from this round in this caliber than any botique round of the same caliber, bar none! $22 bucks sure is nice instead of the $37.99 my buddy just sheeled out on some Federal.

Hate to hear Jeff's comments on the .243 but my son uses the .243 on South Texas Deer. I can't say that the bullet placement was accurate on the deer that Jeff shot. But, my son's deer killed this year (2) have all dropped in their tracks with the .243 with the largest weighing in at 170lb and at 137yd. I really think that bullet and bullet placement brings success to the hunter. .243 and 100gr bullets have their place in the whitetail hunting world.

I hunt with a Remington ...

I hunt with a Remington model 700ADL chambered in .243 Winchester. I have used this same rifle/ammo combo on everything from varmints to whitetails. As an avid bow hunter, I am in the habit of aiming just behind the shoulder (armpit) on whitetails. With this ammo, I have consistently taken deer that go to ground within 20 yards. A 100 yard shot in the boiler room will leave a wound channel big enough to drop a golf ball through! In addition to the excellent accuracy, the velocity is such that the chest cavity is albeit evacuated, with nothing but pink mist on the exit side! I have used this ammo at moderate altitude in the Ozarks as well as the swampy river bottoms. Temperature and humidity have little, if any effect. This is probably the most lethal round I have ever used. I have never hit an animal that didn't immediately go to ground.

I am a Deputy sheriff, a police sniper for my agency and use a Rem 700 in .243 win., w/ a 24 inch match Krieger barrel. On a good day at 200 yds., this ammo has grouped well under an inch and has never gone over 2 inches. (currently, this is this rifle's second barrel and it has just over 400 rounds through it) The best part is that (so far) it appears to be very consistent from lot number to lot number. I find that the 100 gr breaches glass and light metal barriers better and with less deflection than the lighter bullets. On a 78 degree day, it crono'd at aver 2890 for me +/- 25 max deviation. 108 degree day added aver 15 fps. With a 200 yard zero, my 100 yd impacts aver 1.7" high, 50 yds (a more common police application range) .25 low. Therefore with 200 zero I can shoot point blank to over 2 city blocks with no change in sight picture and still remain in the desired terminal impact area. When I retire, this rifle IS going with me and if I can afford it, I'll continue to use this Winchester ammo.I know the above will not impress the benchrest shooters but I hope it is helpful to the hunters and/or other officers. Thank you for your time.

This is good deer killing ammo. Out of my factory .243 Rem SPS, it groups 1" at 110 yards and 3" max at 220 yards.This past deer season I killed 2 deer with this ammo. The 1st was a 125yd neck shot, deer dropped. The other was a 165yd heart/lung shot, that deer ran just 40 yards.

I've used this .243 Win ammo for years. Several deer tags have been filled, all one shot kills with the deer dropping with 30 yards or so. I actually toyed around with the idea of trying some premium ammo this year, but with this ammo continuing to shoot 1" groups at 100 yards from my Savage 110, I couldn't bring myself to change. If it aint broke, don't fix it!!!

Not quite the most accurate in my savage rifle, but still does VERY good. The performance it has on deer is remarkable. At 300 yards plus my deer ran less than 15 yards.All around I think this is a GREAT deer bullet.

Great stuff! I used it in 2007 in a Ruger M77 to wallop two Texas deer in 5-days. The first was a 6-point buck at about 130-yards; caught him chasing does and the 100-grain Power point put a stop to his shenanigans. He went about 20-yards and collapsed. Bullet passed clean through on this broad side shot and was not recovered. Internal organ damage was very impressive. The second deer, a doe was whacked 5-days later. She was hit in the spine above the shoulders and never moved out of her tracks. Actually she went down so quickly I never her drop. The bullet blew a 1.5-inch diameter hole clean through her spine and kept going - it was never recovered. This load is also extremely accurate in the little Ruger. MOA or sub-MOA groups occur on a regular basis with this load. This load is an excellent deer whacker and it doesn't break the bank cost wise. It's also a hoot to shoot.
