Gunsmith installed this pad on my .300 Win Mag with a laminate stock. He did a poor job so I got the files and sanding blocks out and finish-shaped it myself. (Then I refinished the stock.) It shaped easier than the Decelerator I did for my other rifle (.308Win), which is an also an excellent recoil reducer, by the way. The Kick Eez was much easier to shape in fact. The Decelerator just seemed to "grip" the file teeth and sand paper too much to leave a smooth surface, and seemless flow with the plastic plate. The Kick-Eez material just cut much more smoothly for me. So, how did it function? It was a tremendous improvement over the stock pad, which was only 1/2" thick! I can now shoot 40-50 rds from the prone position or a bench before I start to feel it. 40-50 rds before this pad was brutal. I can't fairly compare the recoil reduction with that of the Decelerator because they are on vastly dissimilar rifles. (I can say that they are both excellent.) The only negative of the Kick Eez is aesthetics. I don't like the two huge screw holes in the face of the pad. I don't know if they come with plugs now, but mine didn't. I much prefer a smooth face offered by pads were you cut two small slits to sink the screws through it. That's the only draw-back I can think of with the Kick-Eez, and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It works well, is easier to shape than other "high-tech" pads I've shaped, and I'll use one again one my next project, but wish they didn't have those huge holes for the screws. For ease of installation and function I recommend it. For a presentation grade work of art, I'd try to find something else without the holes that shapes easily and not worry about how well it cushions recoil.

This is the best recoil ...

This is the best recoil pad out there. They grind well and give the most recoil reduction. I have replaced the factory pad on all my competition shotguns, and plan to do the same with a Magnum rifle I just purchased. When you shoot seveal hundred rounds a day you can tell the differance. This pad works.
