After trying other brands and wieghts of bullets in my 35 Whelen this one works best for me. 60.5 grains of H4350 behind this bullet gives less than one inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards. It is an excellent elk bullet. Pinky size hole in and thumb size hole out without much meat damage.

Very accurate bullet out of my .35 Whelen. I shot a cow elk with this bullet at 160 yards. I shot 3 rounds into her front shoulder and anchored her, but...when butchering her out, we found that not one had exited and that all 3 bullets had fragmented badly . I was very disappointed in the performance, because as mentioned, the bullet was tremendously accurate. I'm going to try Partitions and TSX's.

This has been my only 35 ...

This has been my only 35 Whelen bullet for the past 5 years. It has taken 6 deer in my hands and others. I load it to about 2600 fps in my Rem CDL 24" barrel with RL15. Kills are dramatic, in 5 out of 6 the deer were physically rolled over away from the shot. One large buck tried to run and made it 40 yards before piling up. As expected, I've never recovered a bullet. I wouldn't hesitate to use this bullet on game larger than deer.

Took these bullets to ...

Took these bullets to Africa in my .35 Whelen for use on the larger plains game. I only recovered one bullet but it was impressive. It retained over 80% of its initial weight. I would like to say I dropped every animal with one shot but that would not be true. Many went down with one shot, and I recovered every other animal due to the devastating wound caused by the bullet. I'd use this bullet again any time.

This bullet is super ...

This bullet is super accurate in a custom Winchester M70. Averages 3 shots in about an inch at 100 yds. Performance on game is excellent. I have no idea how weight retention is because every one that I have used has shot the whole way through whatever I have hit. Great bullet!

I found the RN 250-gn ...

I found the RN 250-gn bullet to be a bit more accurate than this spitzer bullet; but if you shoot longer ranges, this bullet would likely give a bit better trajectory. I recommend you shoot both RN and SP in your rifle to verify accuracy. I tested both bullets in two 35 Whelens (Ruger and custom Mauser).

I normally prefer Sierra ...

I normally prefer Sierra bullets for accuracy. However, in this 35 Whelen Ackly Improved the Hornaday 250 shoots better (1"-1.25") than the Sierra 225 HPBT (1.5"). Besides that, they plain old look more macho when loaded. I have had some 5 shot groups at .8"

I used this bullet in my Custom Savage 110 on my own cartridge design & appropriately dubbed "The Sledgehammer"... Loaded to 3080 fps. I got instant kills on everything I shot... 1 elk @ 312 yds. I shot through both shoulders, not only dropped in his tracks, but he literally swapped ends... A muley buck shot @ 485 yds. trotting straight away, dropped like he was hit with a wrecking ball... Weight retention was awesome on those few that didn't pass completely through...

I used this bullet in a 35 Whelen load for my Remington 750 Woodmaster. The round printed Sub MOA from this semi-auto at 100 yds! Last month I used the same load on a boar hunt. I dropped a 325 lb Russian Boar at a full charge (quartering towards me; 70 yd shot). The hog went down like he was hit by a meteorite. The bullet was a complete pass through with an exit hole large enough to put a soda can through. The 250 grain bullet liquefied the boar's heart. I highly recommend this bullet, it has awesome "knockout" power!
