I have owned my Steiner binoculars for 5 years. they have performed flawlessly except for the rubber armour coating. I can recall no time of which may have come in contact with any type of chemical, though the coating has become "gooey", thus seems to be worse each time I use them.

Excellent compact binoculars, on par optically with an old pair of rubber armored 8x30 Swarovski binoculars of mine. The attached objective lens covers and eyepiece rainguard are very handy and keeps dust and grit from damaging the glass, but are easily flipped out of the way for viewing. Folding eyecups and good eye relief makes these binoculars convenient for users with glasses. I do miss the center focus wheel of conventional porro prism binoculars but this Steiner's design is probably more waterproof because of the lack of it. A pair of Steiner 10x50 Military Marine binoculars is on my future acquisitions list.

Awesome binos. Very clear and great contrast. Use these often spotting prairie dogs or hunting whitetail. One side of mine fogged last year on a whitetail hunt and they were replaced without question and pretty fast despite never being registered. Do yourself a favor and get a pair.

I have had 3 pairs of this binocular. First pair I had to send back because they fogged, they were promptly replaced without question. Second Pair (Replacement) I had for ten years before they were destroyed in a fire resulting from a Car Bomb in Tekrit, Iraq when I was deployed with the National Guard. My lovely wife promptly replaced them after I recovered from my injuries. I now have had that pair for five years and say with absolute judgement that you will not buy a better binocular for the money. They have been through some of the roughest conditions and stood up to it. I had used the 7x50 used by the US Army for many years and that is why I purchased the 8x30's for personal use, they just plain work from deer hunting in Minnesota to elk in the dark timber of Colorado because your eyes are doing the focusing and you can pick out the smallest part of your game.

The absolute best binocs I have ever used in over 15 years in the field. They have always performed perfectly under the worst weather conditions anyone could imagine. Never leaked, never fogged, never failed. An excellent glass for any use. If you need binocs, buy a Steiner product, especially the 8x30 military/marine.

These are very good binoculars backed by a very good company. I lost a pair of the 8x30's in the fall and they wintered out on a game trail through a very cold winter. When a friend found them one of the lens had fogged in. I sent them back to Steiner for repair, they sent me a BRAND NEW pair without question and apologized for the lens!! This is TOP NOTCH product and a top notch company backing them, I would buy them again. I expect them to last me a lifetime if I can hang on to them.

In the course of twenty-three years of hunting and shooting I have had the opportunity to borrow and own and use a number of binoculars, some of which were better than others. The 8x30 Steiner's which I have been using for the last few years are simply outstanding. Edge to edge clarity is remarkable and resolution is such that in decent light you can clearly see bullet holes in the black of a target at 100 yards. I have used these binoculars for extended periods of time and have not noticed any eye fatigue. The shape of the binocular is comfortable to hold and use. The adjustments are easy to manipulate yet retain their setting and are not prone to being dislodged. The rubber coating is comfortable to use when your hands are cold and wet. The neck strap is adequate for its intended use. The lens caps are a good idea, since they are attached to the instrument, one is not likely to loose them. However, it would be good if they fit a little tighter. I simply put a rubber band around them to keep them securely in place.

Really good glass. I have no complaints about these binos. Although, if you want optimum viewing time at dawn and dusk save some extra money and opt for the 50mm. When it's gettin' dark it's hard to gather light with the 30mm's. If you're gonna be glassin' with decent light they're fantastic because they're so light. Overall, great binos and you really can't go wrong with em'.
