This rear aperature sight ...

This rear aperature sight has significantly improved the Mark I Lee-Enfield on which it is mounted. The sight is mounted on the receiver bridge, very low to the bore. The aperature size is just right, smaller than a 'ghost ring' but large enough to rapidly aquire a sight picture when shouldering the rifle. I would recommend it over the open battle shights of the Mark I. In addition to these improvements the sight radius was increased from a mere 18 inches to 30 1/2 inches, a 69% improvement.

Ok, here it is.....Absolutely a great addition to our ISHAPORE #2MK2A. I mean great! It is pretty straight forward to mount. The base of the sight is removed, and I used a ruler to act as a straight edge for alignment. There is plenty of room. It goes on the right side of the receiver across from the safety. The receiver is not hardened, and I peened a start point, drilled through with a small drill, used a medium drill, then used the drill specifically for the tap. It uses 8/48 machine screws. By drilling that way, I do not break off taps in the receiver like my 03-A3. Takes a little longer, but, it insures the drill hole is dead on. I gave the rating a four star as I wish I could have put target knobs on the sight. There is no provision for this. Adjustment is not simple in the field. I zero at 100yds and there it goes! My wife sighted the sight in for her as that is her rifle. As the previous rating stated, it dramatically improves the sight radius. Dramatically.Look through the rear aperture, put the front sight on the target. There it is. She was walking a bowling pin on the burm, while scoped rifles on a rest were missing. She was shooting off hand. The original sight is removed. I dry sighted the aperture over the bolt, the only adjustment was windage. We had it on paper in three shots, the rest of the day was slinging the pins. The #1MKIII, and the #2MK2A have almost identical receivers. The sight goes across from the safety, and the charger bridge keeps the sight from being knocked. Midway, you got a winner here. Iron sights on that rifle make it an happening! Money well spent.
