The RCBS Primer Pocket Brush is a great tool reloaders can use to remove the residue from primer pockets making them cleaner. Brushes are made from stainless steel bristles and are made to fit the RCBS Accessory Handle (product # 477-820) sold separately.

Actually I'm not sure if mine is large or small, I think large. I use it exclusively on 45 ACP (mixed brass). I install it in my vertical drill press (slowest speed) and clean usually 100 cases at a time after tumbling. Result: Clean pockets ended occasional tipped primers and seating depth is more uniform and easier on a Dillon Square Deal press. Only minor concern..brush has difficult time getting into corners, although sides and floor of pocket are like new. Durable.

I used this tool that belonged to a friend. I'll never buy one. The stainless bristles began peeling back and made it hard to operate. Doesn't seem like it will last long. Requires a decent amount of pressure to clean the primer pocket. In turn this caused the bristles to bend back. I'm sure there is something better.

This tool is expensive, 7.99 to replace the brush. the problem with this is, after a few of the tiny brushes fall out, the rest will follow all at once , you can't put it back together. when it works, it is good, when it doesn't, it's a piece of junk.

Does a fantastic job cleaning primer pockets. I use mine on a Hornady LNL Case Prep center. For what its worth, I have learned that this brush and all other RCBS trim mate accessories fit into my Hornady products.The bristles fray after a lot of use, but I cut them off with a Dremel cutoff wheel, as well as touch up the brush tips. I would recommend buying 2 of these if you are doing 1000 or more rounds of brass.

Show me a better tool at even twice the price for cleaning primer gunk out of the 209 primer pocket in an inline muzzleloader's breech plug, and I'll buy two. The threads even fit my T/C short starter, so this brush just stays in my butt stock pouch. I do agree, though, that some care and "manicuring" is necessary when using in volume brass case cleaning with power tools. I chuck this right into my drill press on lowest speed (120 rpm) and get pretty good results when cleaning up large rifle primer pockets, thanks to the reviewer with the Super Glue trick. I just wear a vinyl-coated glove to hold the cases instead of chucking them into anything. I do follow up with a thorough cleaning in the tumbler.

Very stiff steel brush. The bristles are nice and tight (no fraying yet). The brush diameter is much smaller than the primer pocket, so it doesn't catch on the sides when you insert it into the pocket. I wonder if the threads fit into my new Hornady powered case prep motor I ordered from Midway?

Mixed feelings on this, if using in the handle it's not all that great. If you can put it in a Dremel or Trim Mate it works pretty good. The wires do get bent which causes it to dent the sides some. When the wires aren't bent you can do several hundred pieces of brass at one sitting.

These brushes works as well as anything currently available for use in power tools to clean primer pockets. I use mine in the RCBS Trim Mate Case Prep Center. I agree with the other reviews about the brushes requiring a lot of pressure to effectively clean the pockets and leaving crud in the corners of the pocket. The same can be said for all the other primer pocket cleaners that I've tried in my Trim Mate. The best way that I've found to clean primer pockets is to use a primer pocket uniformer in the Trim Mate. The first time the cases go over the uniformer they get nice uniform depth pockets with square corners in the bottom of the pockets (a good thing). After the pockets have been uniformed then the uniformer works as a pocket cleaner. I will set the Trim Mate up with the proper size uniformer and brush. A couple of seconds on the uniformer and a quick pass over the brush and the pockets are spotless. This might seem like overkill but I load several thousand rounds of ammo annually that is used in competition. It takes only one high primer to ruin a good match. Hope this helps.

OK. Forget the brush ...

OK. Forget the brush handle. Take the brush and chuck it into your electric drill ( AC powered better than battery for this). Then put the handle it a vice and tilt it at whatever angle you like. Lock it in the on position. I can clean a coffee can full of 45ACPs in about 15 minutes. The technique for me is to roll it between your fingers while the brush is in the pocket. This will wobble it enough to get the corners. And it will knock any tumbling media out of the flash hole. This will clean your pockets faster than a walk down 5th Avenue.

These brushes are the best tool I've bought to clean the primer pockets that I've found in 40 years of reloading and I am continuing to try a new product once in a while. To extend brush life, as soon as you get the brush, use a little super glue on the "sides" of the bristles. This will increase their life, and the bristles will not peel for quite a few hundred rounds of cases. If the bristle ends are uneven use a high speed Dremel tool with a cutoff disk and even the edges. This brush is the best tool for the job I've ever used, and I have several other's that just don't do as good a job.

I use this RCBS brush on my RCBS power mate. Brushes that were bought with power mate did fray after about 2000 primer pockets cleaned. Ordered new brushes last week, couldn't be more pleased. New brushes are about 40% shorter than old set. 400 pockets cleaned so far, being shorter and stiffer should solve the fraying problem. Stay with RCBS, quality and customer service 2nd to none.
