Good for checking for a squib. Plastic construction flexes and absorbs hammer impact which makes it poor for actually clearing a squib...Midway needs to sell brass rods.

This is a good product for what it is intended...squib rounds or rounds with no powder charge. On a true squib, there is no powder in the charge and the round is approximately 1" down the barrel...this will remove that round. If you have a low powder charge and the round is driven further into the barrel this tool will not remove it and will break...you need a brass rod. I have used the battery cap remover also and it works fine...nice using plastic on aluminum caps, does not mar like a screwdriver would.

I purchased this item as an "emergency tool" for my range bag thinking I might never use it but it would be good insurance "just in case". Two days later, I picked up a pellet gun I hadn't used for a long time. Time enough for the CO2 cartridge to push the pellet part way down the barrel. Having the squib rod allowed me to clear the barrel quickly and safely.

I used it to try to remove a squib wad cutter round that was stuck in the barrel. It broke the first time I tried to use it. I ended up throwing it away.

the tool works fine and seems sturdy. Just wish it was two inches longer so it would work in guns with 8-inch barrels; then I'd rate it five stars.
