Mine only required a little trimming of the flashing remaining from the manufacturing process. Instructions were easy to follow, and the whole replacement took less than three minutes, once I had the trigger assembly out of the gun. Both my 10-rounders dropped free via gravity.

This is the magazine release that the 10/22 SHOULD come with! It is instinctive to pull back on the release as this one allows you to do, rather than to have to push forward on the standard one Ruger designed which is awkward. It does require a bit of adjustment, but anyone with normal mechanical ability should be able to install this in 5 minutes. I ordered two of these and I am going to get one more.

Dropped right in, though ...

Dropped right in, though it wasn't completely intuitive. After fiddling with it I got it to work just fine. The hardest part is getting used to pulling instead of pushing for the mag release. I prefer the action the Champion provides, but overcoming muscle memory can be a pain in the rump!

Wasn't a drop in fit with my rifle. Very sticky before putting bolt release pin back. Frozen when pin installed. Per other review, tried filing top off which helped make it less sticky but still frozen when pin replaced. This captures both sides of mag plunger which interferes with bolt release part. Most mag releases push plunger from non-bolt release side. Will try to file off side of capture area as well. Overall, you get what you pay for.

Wonderful upgrade to any ...

Wonderful upgrade to any 10/22. Like it says, it is a drop-in replacement! I watched a couple of Youtube videos on how to install and it, had it in in about 5 minutes! BUT, it took about an hour to find out where it was binding and another hour of filing and test fitting to make it work. I had to take about .005" off the flat part of the top of it. It was binding on another pin in the trigger assembly. After that, it worked like a Champ. I love it. I have another on order for my other 10/22. I highly recommend this modification. I would give it a 3 but it works so good and I love it so well.

I just installed this mag release and I love it. This one you pull in the same direction as the trigger. Much more intuitive for me than pushing forward. I am ordering another for my other 10/22 (which has the forward moving extended release toggle). Different strokes for different folks.
