I inherited my old man's ...

I inherited my old man's Redhawk about 11 years ago with these grips on it. They fit my larger-than-average hands perfectly. I tried to use the factory grips, and despite looking fantastic, they are far too small for the gun. I also tried the Pachmayr grips with finger grooves and they too were too small for my liking. So here it is, 2012, and I am still using the same grips that my old man installed on it at least 4 years before giving it to me.

Great grips, as always. ...

Great grips, as always. One thing that annoys me is that the screw is too long and makes a "bulge" in the rubber on the left side of the grip. Wish these were the older type with the washer on the left side.

After trying several pair ...

After trying several pair of grips I have settled on these. They follow very closely the lines of the grip frame while slightly straightening out the backstrap which allows them to fit perfectly in my hand. However, they are very wide grips so those with smaller hands may not find them a good fit. The two-piece design allows them to fit together properly unlike the gripper/finger groove grips.

I've had this grip for ...

I've had this grip for ~20 years, so I thought I would try the new Pachmayr Gripper Grips with Finger Grooves (539820) and new Hogue Monogrip (348798) for my old Redhawk. Both of these grips are nice but way too small and do not "fill the hand", if you have a larger hand. Sent them both back and kept my old Pachmayr Presentation grip!

I've tried the other grips for my Redhawk and I always wind up going back to these. One thing you DO NOT want on a .44 mag with heavy bullet loads (300+ grains) is grips that leave your hand in contact with the metal backstrap - OUCH! The Presentation grips give me something to hold on to and the heavy loads don't hurt.

I've used Presentation ...

I've used Presentation grips before with great results. When I got these, I could pull them apart after installing them on the gun. Upon checking, it was clear there were no threads for the screw to go into on the left grip. I called about it and they sent me a new screw. I wrote then sent them back for replacements and they sent me the same thing again, no threads! Not happy.
