This two-piece rear take-down pin expands when the inside screw is turned and locks the upper and lower receivers together. The result is a rock-solid connection between the upper and lower receivers. Requires no modifications to install on receiver.

Well..The concept is very good. However mine after about 30 shots I could see my groups turn from 1" and under to two or three inch groups right or left! The thing will loosen after some shots making it worse than your original pin! I called JP and one guy there told me he uses his without thread lock and turns the little mark to about a 45 degree foreword to sort of pull back and then down when tightened. So I did that and it helped a bit but after 20 shots or so it comes loose. Seems to me they should make it like an airplane bolt with Teflon in it or something so it will not loosen unless you turn it loose with tools. I put my original pin back in my Stag AR15. I have a 24" Barrel,PRS Magpul rear stock, and a chip McCormack match trigger. Without the JP pin loosening I could shoot groups that would fit in a dime or nickel at 100 yards. Same affect with my Acu-Wedge. But my acu-wedge will not come loose. The JP Pin is good once it is set up for maybe just a few shots which is all I do anyway hunting Coyotes. But for me I didn't like it loosening up and even before it was loosened up to where you could feel it was changing its position and tension making accuracy an issue. Then it was just a matter of time until the groups go out the window!

Great Idea but Poor Design

Although a great idea, it lacks certain attributes that would be inexpensive to add. Complete unit when assembled in my AR is too short. It almost falls through due to its length being about 1/4 " too short. Ideally, it should have had a cap head on one end to keep unit from falling through and an Allen cap on the other end that is extended past receiver hole. The existing flat-head screw driver end fits too deep in receiver and is easily marred by screwed driver when removed for cleaning. Real pain to clean weapon. I would not buy! Add accu-wedge and lay a piece(s) of tape between halves. This does a better job of applying tension between receivers.

This product took my ar build up lower to upper from sloppy to rock solid. It was difficult to break down the first time but after cleaning out the loctite, it was easy to reassemble. I would reccomend this to anyone looking to tighten up the gap between the upper and lower

Eliminated gap/play, does what its supposed to do. I sometimes had the screw loosen but all it took to fix that was a little loctite. If you're having problems with it loosening after prolonged fire of your AR-15, use loctite.

I bought this and a couple of DPMS Accurizing Wedges at the same time. I had to shave the wedges down and the slop still seems to be there, just a bit more springy. The JP Tensioning Takedown Pin absolutely removes all slop and makes the gun feel tremendously solid. I have not shot the gun yet, but I used the lock tight as suggested. It will be much more time consuming to separate the upper and lower, and I will need tools. Not sure how this is supposed to make the gun more accurate, I was already shooting a half inch group at 100 Yds, but the gun feels solid, so I'm happy with it. I hope JP continues to improve this product.

Worked great to tighten ...

Worked great to tighten up a DPMS lower and Bravo Company upper( Cerro Forge) with no play. I used this on a 16" heavy Barrel varmint gun and it took up all the play between the upper / lower and improved the groups greatly. All you need to add is a little Loctite 262 (purple) to keep it in place. Would definately buy again in the future. Also came with the allen wrench to install it.

The Olympic Arms .243 WSSM upper I bought had so much play, it rattled like a kid's toy on four different lowers I tried it on. After installing the JP AR Tension Pin the fit is perfect. Snug fit, no play. If it worked on this upper it should work on any upper out there.

I built up an AR last fall and throughout the winter. I tricked it out as an "across the course" gun. Lilja Barrel in 6X45mm,a Rock River NM lower, DPMS Billet "lefty" upper, Tubb flat wire buffer spring w/ tungsten weight. So far this year I have shot it in two High Power matches and both times this take down pin has loosened up. It's easy to tell when it gets loose because I have to reef on the rear grip in order to keep the level bubble centered. Thats also when the scores start to hit the 8's and 9's. Alex says the problem can be fixed if you alter the gun but for $32 it should work as stated. I'm sending mine back.
