I use this rest to site in my rifles and shot guns. Its very steady and solid. Has full adjustment for windage and elevation. Plus a fine adjustment for elevation. I like to use it for prairie dog shooting in North Dakota. Its needed for those 3 and 400yd shots. Sure beats those sand bags. Can also be used for cleaning and maintenance.

It's great for informal ...

It's great for informal plinking and great for cleaning a gun. But is unstable for fine benchrest shooting. It will jump off zero after a shot. What's worse is it will shift its POI while firing as the front arm will jump due to recoil.Shooting .22LR using slower subsonic ammo I will get a flier from this 1 out of every 4 shots.If I could have done it all over again, I would have bought separate front rest and a rear bag which I'll have to buy now. My fault for not researching well enough before hand.For a general shooter 95% should be more than happy with it.

I used this rest on a ...

I used this rest on a recent South Dakota dogtown trip. It worked great off the table the guide set up. I was able to smoothly scan left & right then dial it up and down for the shot. After getting close the left hand (RT hand shooter) went back to the forearm for a steady hold. I found that hold better than shooting with the hand still on the elevation adjustment knob. My son shot my AR & even with a low count magazine the AR grip hung to low for easy use of this rest. I used it with a bolt action. I also got it to use at times while cleaning or supporting a firearm for various reason. As long as you don't give it a good bump it holds the gun fine. A very helpful rest for prairie dog type shooting, not that the dogs would agree though.

If you are familiar with ...

If you are familiar with the Outers Varminter, you'll be familiar with this one.It works rather well in two ways, as a gun rest for shooting and for holding your rifle or shotgun for cleaning purposes.I did find that you can put pressure on the front point, causing POA/POI shift changes, when holding onto the forestock of the rifle if the back of your hand is sitting on the front bar.

Right out of the gate, ...

Right out of the gate, was leery about ordering one of these...have had bad experiences in the past with similar products being wobbly and not particularly well made. So I am happy to report that the S/R Steady Point is both well made and a remarkably solid platform for shooting off a bench. Lots of adjustment plus the turnbuckle design allow for quick and easy fine tuning your elevation needs. Another plus is the windage pivoting, very handy and again, surprisingly stable.Supplied with two rear rabbit ears, which adds to the versatility...nice. For those who had issues with the plastic adjustment knobs, you're over-tightening beyond what's needed and what this is designed for. Overall, very pleased: two thumbs up!

Works great as a gun vise ...

Works great as a gun vise and and as a rest, made cleaning rifles much simpler.Its not the best rest in the world or the best vice, but it works great. For example it doesn't really work to clean my side by side shotgun. All in all a very good value, and it stores compactly as the front leg unscrews from the base.

Pros: The adjustments were easy to make.Con: This thing was so shaky, it was like shooting during an earthquake. Ruined my groups on paper.
