This product is a medium-heavy crystalline coating which is ideal for firearms that must perform under adverse weather conditions. The porous surface created by this process lends itself to absorption of oil or spray-on/bake-on finishes. Its non-reflective surface is perfect for tactical and hunting situations. Just degrease, blast, and immerse your parts in the solution. Then oil or coat with a finish such as LCW DuraCoat.

Technical Information

Process:

Clean and degrease all parts thoroughly

Fill heating tank with 4 parts clean water and 1 part parkerizing solution

Heat solution in heating tank to 170-185°

Condition solution by immersing 1 pad of course steel wool in heated solution for 30 minutes

Immerse parts in heated solution for 5-15 minutes

Add clean water as evaporation takes place

Immerse parts in post-treatment solution, or apply spray-on finish

Notes:

Zinc Phosphate is especially suited as an undercoating for DuraCoat.

This parkerizing solution creates a medium-heavy crystalline coating which enables the surface to absorb oils or spray-on/bake-on finishes.

This product does what it's supposed to. I don't know why someone would rate it 3 stars. They obviously don't know what parkerizing is... But a parkerized finish is not going to be a deep black finish that's what bluing is for. It will be closer to grey. It's not gun blue... it's parkerizing. A parkerized finish is great because it holds oils well which lubricate the weapon and at the same time protect it from rust and abrasion. It's very good against holster wear.

This product worked great! I used it in conjunction with the black dip solution and all the parts we did came out with a nice black finish. As stated in other reviews the instructions are a little sketchy, but if you check out youtube videos on parkerizing you will have no troubles. One problem we did run into was we used tongs to handle the parts. They left small marks that will not buff out. Not terrible, but not perfect. I will sandblast the action and re-do it using wire through the frame to handle it. Shouldn't be a problem then!

Very easy to use as long as you follow the directions and mix correctly. The 1 pint bottle comes with mixing directions for 1 gallon. I used this product with the Lauer black pre-dip and got a deep black finish. Looks great. After blasting parts the whole process took about an hour from starting the solution until I had a finished firearm. It made a rough CZ-82 look like a new pistol.

Excellent product. If you can cook, you can use this product. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. A little side note -- the parts may look terrible after coating, but saturate in oil, wipe off the excess and the parts will look great.

Long as you know how to parkerize then you are fine, this product worked excellent on restoring my mil-spec 1911, left a nice dark parkerized finish to the parts. Also the instructions on this 16oz bottle say the ratios for the 1gallon bottle, so don't mess that up, this 1-pint solution mixes into half a gallon of distilled water.

This product is very easy to use. After 20 minutes, I had a very even, dark gray park job on my project pistol. The finish reminds me of the 1911 pistols I was issued back in the day while in the Army. I believe if the metal is prepared properly and you follow the instructions, it would be impossible to mess this up.

This is my first attempt at parkerizing and I have high praise for other Lauer products. I was expecting a dark black finish on my Galil bolt but, it ended up dark gray. I guess that's OK since my main objective is to reduce wear and increase corrosion resistance. I followed the instructions exactly and ended up with a uniform dark gray finish.
