ATN's Ultra Sights are designed to be a both eyes open, heads-up, rapid acquisition red dot sight. Ideal for handguns, shotguns or rifles these sights fit standard Weaver-Style bases. The Digital Ultra Sight features five reticle patterns, brightness level memory, reticle pattern memory and low battery indication. 33mm. Matte. Covered under 2 year warranty. While this sight may wiggle in the hand, I found it to be stable in actual use on my 44 mag Marlin lever action with everything up through full power loads. The combination of different reticles and multiple brightness levels provides a nice range of sighting options. I would have no qualmsabout putting this on my 450 Marlin. The only negative I would mention is that it is several inches in length, but this is a nit.

This sight was a big ...

This sight was a big dissappointment. I ordered three for my Encore and Contender hunting handgun barrels. All three had the cross hair pattern misaligned. I kept the scopes because I was only interested in the dot pattern. Otherwise, a nice mechanical and optical design. One of the three had already been returned as the battery package was already opened.I shot one of them for the first time yesterday (2 June 2002) and was really upset. The electronics are recoil sensitive. Mounted on a 15" .25-35 barrel (not a heavy recoiler) the firing shock caused the electronics to reset to the post/cross hair pattern and a dimmer setting. Subsequent firings caused the scope to go to dimmer and dimmer each time, requiring repeated adjustments to see the cross or dot. Will be requesting a return authorization on these. Wish Tasco was still marketing the Optima 2000!

One of the best sights I ...

One of the best sights I have ever used for a couple of reasons: first, the sight mounts securely to my rail (and as long as you don't torque down too hard, the screws won't strip) and "zeroed" easily. Second, I can shoot from an unsupported position, at a 50 or 100 meter target and maintain a six inch pattern with my 6.8mm SPC Bushmaster M-4A3. Third, this sight is reliable and the battery life is extensive; I shoot every weekend (every other during winter) and this sight hasn't been damaged nor have I had to replace the original battery. Finally, speaking to an expert over the phone, the greater distance there is between the crystal and the laser emitter, the less movement there is in the picture presented to the shooter - naturally encouraging consistent head/cheek placement when shooting. This builds consistency in shooting styles and aides "virgin" shooters in developing the basic skills to repeatedly shoot accurately. The heads-up-display is very useful for quick acquisition of targets (even at different distances - just over or undershoot your target based upon where you "zero" in) and the overall design of the sight provides shooters with a valuable overall optic for the best price.

This is my preferred ...

This is my preferred reflex sight for many reasons. First, the length between the laser emitter and the crystal is longer than typical reflex sights - adding additional accuracy to shots. Second, the mounting is stable and reliable - I don't lose "zero" when I take the sight off my rifle and re-attach it (I dont know if this speaks more to my rail system or this sight, however if there was any deficiencies with the mounting system - this wouldn't be possible). Third, battery life is very long. I've been using the same battery for four years and haven't had to replace it (I shoot every weekend - every other weekend during winter so this is saying something). Forth, price - other sights of the same design cost twice as much and they all sit higher when mounted. This sight is nice and low - typically costing $100 or slightly more and sitting 3/4'' high. This is important because if you mount it all the way forward on your rifle, you will have an extremely accurate representation of the bullet flight path - allowing you to quickly shift between targets at different distances with minimal adjustment in sight picture and no adjustment necessary when it comes to the sight itself (limit 150 meters). I also use a Leupold scope with the same rifle, when I place the ATN all-the-way forward, I can co-witness with both (again, aiding accuracy). I've purchased four other red dot scopes of varying price and design - I would choose ATN over AIMPOINT or Trijicon because it has been such a consistent performer for me over the years. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I would not wish this ...

I would not wish this product on my worst enemy. Right out of the box I had one problem after the next. For example, the on/off switch did not work, the different reticles were all somewhat tilted and they all flared. I am so disappointed with this sight I can't get it back to Midway USA fast enough. I would take a Barska, BSA, or even a Tasco over this piece of junk any day. please do not buy this product. It is worth what it is worth, and that is virtually nothing. I "thought" ATN was a decent product but I did not do enough research before I bought it.

I used one for 2 years on ...

I used one for 2 years on a 1911 Race Gun shooting 38 super high loads. No problems! It's better than any other sight for the price. I sold my race gun with sight and am going to buy another to put on my 1911 460 Rowland. I will be surprised if it holds up with the loads I'll be shooting but I love that sight!!!

My unit was DOA. Battery ...

My unit was DOA. Battery was dead. I tried new batteries and still no go. I am not taking another chance so I returned for refund. The battery compartment on this site is a joke. The negative battery post is completely flush with its plastic insulator. I am not sure why they have not redesigned since this appears to be a major flaw in the product. All they need to do is put a raised negative terminal and that would be fixed. Oh well lesson learned should have paid more attention to the negative reviews.

Worked great on my AK-47 through 1,000+ rounds. Hard to see the reticle in direct sunlight so I put it on my AR between the iron sights.

Have had the sight for ...

Have had the sight for over a year. Mounted it on my 1st AR. 1000+ rounds later still going strong. No loss of zero and tracked through the adjusments well, also no changing of reticle. Built my daughter a tricked out 10/22 and the sight is now on her rifle with no issues. Yes this is not a C-More or an EOtech nor does it claim to be. I do have a C-More and have the same issues at times in bright sunlight.This is what this sight does very well, fast target accusition, sturdy and the perfect optic for newer shooters progressing from iron sights. As a statement my daughter was drilling milk caps at 50 feet on her second magazine after sighting in. Good enough for me!!Is the C-More a better sight? Probably. Would I buy a replacement for the one my daughter has from my rifle, already did!!!

As soon as that sight ...

As soon as that sight arrived,i put on my ar15.lasar bore sighted for .6 low as per specs at 25yds 55gr at 3200fps. she was slightly high less than 1" at 100yds At 200yds she was dead on with all reticles.removed sight and reinstalled and zero wae about 1/2 " off at 200 yds.I will be ordering another one or two.for rifles and pistolsYou can't go wrong with sight

I had a few troubles at first with the sight changing objectives on its own. Which I later found to be a weak battery. Since changing the battery it has been a tremendously accurate and dependable sight for my AR.

Purchased this sight for ...

Purchased this sight for my wife's new Ruger pistol. The dot was too bright and looked like a blazing sun flower, no matter what trick we tried. Putting up with that, and sighting it in, the small allen screw that locked the sight adjustment was so shallow and soft, it stripped on the first try, although the other adjustment screws were fine. Their tech support is terrible. They said I could return it, but it would be at least 4 weeks for repair, or I could go to the hardware store and replace it myself. I returned it and purchased an UltraDot.
