Cor-Bon uses flash-suppressed powder along with skived bullets with scored jackets to offer high-velocity defense loads that expand quickly with high weight retention and without the fear of over-penetration. In all reality, the COR BON 458 SOCOM ammo is 5-star. I posted a 3-star because I wanted people to read the review and understand why I gave it a 3. (bad/mediocre reviews are much more likely to be be read than good reviews) Anyway, I ordered 2 boxes of 20 rounds each. Out of 40 rounds, I had feeding issues with 4, where the bolt (AR-platform) wouldn't go all the way into battery. Of those 4 cartridges, I was able to get 2 to chamber and fire. The two remaining were impossible to chamber, and would lock the action up so tightly that I had to hammer the charging handle back to get the cartridge out. I called Midway to report the problem, and was directed to contact COR BON. I did, and without hesitation COR BON said they'd send me a pre-paid shipping label to return the remaining ammo so they could examine it and figure out what went wrong during the load process. A few days after the phone call, the return label arrived; I shipped the ammo back (2 rounds was all that was left); a week later a full box of 20 rounds was delivered to me as replacement. So, while I found it irritating that ammunition as EXPENSIVE as this would have a 10% error margin, I applaud COR BON for going above and beyond to rectify the problem and ensure that I was satisfied. Again, this is a positive review of COR BON and their product. I've used a variety of COR BON ammo in the past, and this is the first problem of any kind I've had. Because of the isolated nature of this incident, and because of the lengths COR BON went to make things right, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend COR BON ammunition.

The 405gr JSP is by far ...

The 405gr JSP is by far my favorite loading for the 458 SOCOM. COR BON's production 405 is just spectacular. I have shot maybe 100 or so through my Teppo Jutsu made 458 upper w/no trouble at all. The SBR stuff (fmj) has had feeding troubles from time to time. The only reason I have not given it a 5 is because its too darn expensive. Low recoil? Not by AR15 standards. :)
