While one doesn't need this tool often, it is a Godsend for those having a spanny-new handguard to install.It's steel, which won't wear out as quickly as the aluminum ones, and should be good 'till long after I'm gone. [grin]

Very solid, worked well. ...

Very solid, worked well. I am new to Garands and thought this tool would also help remove the rear handguard from the barrel...it does not. It does do a great job of removing the clip from the handguard once it is off the barrel. I have two stocks to clean and refinish, so it was very much worth the expense.

Very good quality, I ...

Very good quality, I purchased this tool because it was made out of steel as opposed to aluminum like most others. To clarify some use issues, This tool is used for separating the spring steel half round clip from your M1 Garand or M14/M1A rear hand guard.This is a great quality tool and will save lots of easily split handguards. It shold last longer than the aluminum ones as well.
