While all other Tipton Snap Caps are excellent, the .22 rimfire Tipton Snap Caps do not have a brass rim. Being made entirely of plastic, the .22 rimfire Tipton Snap Caps are quickly damaged and made useless by the gun's firing pin and extractor. Instead of these, buy the Carlson's Snap Cap (MidwayUSA Product #683075) which are made of aluminum and will give years of satisfactory service.

Work great for safely decocking my semi-auto 22's. Each one holds up for several hits. They are short so will not cycle in a 22LR magazine. Have to manually insert them into the breech. No big deal. An inexpensive way to protect the firing pin and inner workings of your 22.

Overall the quality for the money, and the functioning of the caps is outstanding. There's no more need to selectively fit the right, small sized, fired casings into tight .22 chambers that usually have to come from the same gun. Also you don't get the mess that fired cases leave in the barrel from the silica used in the primer compounds that is dislodged dry firing used cases. If, however, you're looking for purely "Snap Caps" especially for a rimfire .22, you can't beat these for the price!

I found this product to very limited in it's usefulness. The cap will only sustain one pinstrike before cracking or at least having to be rotated before the next hit. I could use empty cases for that. The only real positive comment I could make is that they were easier to place in the chamber than empty cases and they will load from a magazine.

I keep snap caps in my .22 revolvers to protect the cylinder chambers and firing pins from dry fire damage. I have tried a variety and only the polymer snap caps are worth buying. Metal ones wear out after only a dozen strikes (or less) and plastic ones crack easily. The polymer snap caps of any brand will wear out with eventually but will out-last the others at least 10 times longer. They are the size of a .22 short and do not work in semi-auto guns. I don't know of any semi-auto .22 guns that can be damaged by dry-firing.

Works perfect for my application, Single Shot competition 22LR Rifles. The concern that others have written not being actual LR doesn't affect my use. If I have the action out of the stock and working on the trigger these work great for testing before dropping it back in. Would definitely buy again.
