I had to balance the rating for this item. My friend ordered this same charging handle and we were impressed. We both used his rifle at the range and not one problem. A charging handle is hidden from sight most of the time, so what if it scratches? As for the smell, maybe the cleaning solution or lube reacted with the finish?

The finish on this thing ...

The finish on this thing is ridiculously lousy. It's not anodized like other brands; more like a chemical treatment which scratches off easily, like Birchwood-Casey Aluma Black. As the finish wears off it leaves a funky odor also, similar to sulfur (not gun powder). The only reason it does not get one star is because it actually fits and works like it's supposed to. Spend a few more bucks and get the DPMS or another brand which is actually anodized.

You get what you pay for sometimes and in my case I got a $14 dud. Installed this in my 9mm upper with a Woff extra power buffer spring and after charging the gun 5 times or so the charging handle bent.

Sweet charging handle. Completely smokes ALL competitors, DPMS, Voltor, DD, are nowhere near the extreme quality of this product. No smell like the other guys said, epic anodizing but I refinished it anyway. Nice and tight no nasty wobble, and perfect machining angles on everything. TRUE QUALITY!!!

Nice fit and finish. I'm very happy with it. It's every bit as nice as the Del-Ton original (which now has a Badger Ordnance latch on it that pokes me in the side) and Colt SP-1 handle on my other rifle. In my opinion, no need to pay more for this item.

I have personally bought upwards of 20 or so without a flaw in any of them. I admit I have never sniffed one or had reason too but in the gun it works fine and the gun continues to smell normal also. Ive also just had 12 of them engraved and the finish held firm and looks even better!

This is a nice charging handle. The finish matches the matte finish on my Rock River upper receiver. I didn't have any compatibility issues.

Finish was good and tool marks to a minimum, but I had to round the latch catch as it was too sharp, I had to literally push the charging handle in before it would release. I also had to remove metal from the retaining lugs because it was a tight friction fit to insert/ remove charging handle from a Bushmaster, and a Rock River upper. After being remedied all "flaws" are now hidden when assembled and it performs as expected.

Had to give this handle just two stars because it refuses to fit into my Aero Precision A3 upper receiver. It fits fine and operates fine in my DSArms A3 upper which is why I kept it. As for the finish, it's fine, no funky smell and I personally like it compared to my DPMS handle. Would be much better handle if more in spec.
