I purchased this rail to fit on a FN Mauser Action marketed as JC Higgins Model 50. Everything was perfect when I got it, except the JC Higgins Model 50 was built built to Mauser Spec, minus the factory drilled base holes. Other than that this rail was very well made. Just be aware the base holes in the receiver for the Model 50 are different than that of a standard Commercial Large Ring Mauser. Midway's customer service is quick and very professional.

I guess these are for commercial receivers. Hence the high reviews for FNs. For use on a military receiver, the charger bridge " hump " must first be ground flush with the rest of the rear receiver bridge. In order for the mount to be moved forward far enough to clear the bolt, the forward screw hole on the rear section lands in the clip guide,which must be welded closed, or the screw cannot be used.Kind of wish they had specified for commercial receivers in the description. Off to the welding, grinding bench.J.K.

Purchased this base for an older Mauser FN modified for 30.06. Was excited when it came in after 4 week wait/backorder. Tried it, rail holes did not match mounting holes on rifle. Variation was approx 2cm at either mounting point. Too bad, needed this setup to mount larger 50mm scope with proper eye relief. Will return base, rings , and scope for this project ASAP. For now I will rely on my older setup--Weaver base and rings with 40mm scope.

The mounting screw layout ...

The mounting screw layout was perfect for my vintage FN Mauser action, which allowed for a solid mount to the receiver. I especially like the elevated rail design because it provides greater access to the magazine; for easier loading. The base does not interfere with loading or ejection. The rail design provides the greatest flexibility for ring placement, anywhere along the rail, allowing me to set proper eye relief, while mounting my front ring just behind the front bell. I was very satisfied with the quality of the base.
