The PAST Mag Shield is designed to let you concentrate on hitting the target more and less on recoil. The comfortable leather cover conforms to the body while the energy-absorbing foam insert dramatically reduces felt recoil. Securing system has been redesigned and directions are in the process of being updated.

I can shoot without flinching now

In the 1960s few rifles produced enough recoil to bother me, but recently I began to develop a sore shoulder lasting several days after firing just a few rounds from any of my rifles or carbines. I began looking at lighter loads to take some of the pain out of shooting, but when I decided to try the Past recoil protector, I found that I could handle maximum loads without discomfort. At first, the extra effective stock length bothered me a bit, but that didn't last long. I can now shoot without pain or flinching. That definitely improves accuracy. I recommend this product to anyone who is not too macho to use it.

Bought the Magnum on my way to sight-in the 458 Win Mag I built on a mauser action. Fired about 20 rounds. Without PAST I would have stopped at around 3. This pad greatly spreads-out the recoil so it is absorbed by a large portion of your shoulder & chest. Bottom line: This pad will greatly reduce, but not eliminate, felt recoil.

This product works very well for bench shooting, the thickness does not bother at all from the bench. It is comfortable and easy to put on etc... I am right handed and have rotator cuff issues with my right shoulder. This product lets me shoot without pain during or afterwards. Very glad I tried one.

Great item. I shoot a lot of military surplus rifles with "nice" steel buttplates and this tames the recoil of them all. I can shoot hot Turkish 8mm out of a K-98 as well as 7.62x54 Heavy ball Surplus out of M-38 Mosin Carbines with no problems thanks to this Recoil shield. Great price for a great item.

I used this 1/2" pad for my Ruger Model 1 .416 Rigby with original factory pad (not much protection there). My load was 400 grains at 2400 fps. Ten shots were fired without flinch, pain or bruising. Enough said.

Shooting my Mosin Nagant M44 and M1891 always hurt after about 25 rounds. I would flinch after about 10 rounds anticipating the pounding in my shoulder that these rifles would make. The PAST recoil shield is fantastic! At the range last weekend I shot 50 rounds before quitting. I stopped because I ran out of ammunition, not because of self inflicted pain!I shoot left handed so the shield looks a little funky inside out on my left shoulder, however, that does not bother me at all!Terry,Albuquerque

This was the first model of the Past Recoil shield that I bought and as a handloader and one that enjoys old army rifles, it is worth its weight in gold. 7.5x55 K31 Swiss carbine is a kicker from the bench position and so is 7.62x 54 Mosin carbine. This shield allows me to fire 200+ full power rounds in one setting and in the morning, no bruises/no stiff shoulder! Being just a half an inch thick, it doesnt create any length of pull issues, or feel awkward to use...I swear by the PAST recoil products.

The thing does what it is ...

The thing does what it is advertised to do. The only fault that I found was that the directions on how to put the thing on are less than clear. One of the previous 'ratings' said that he had to continually adjust the pad. Past must have addressed this problem with the addition of a strap that I finally figured out is supposed to wrap around your belt to keep it from slipping down! A picture on the package would have been worth the proverbial "1000 words"!
