I bought a set of these and the A-Zoom to see how each were. These are by far better. Tipton's are full sized .308, brass rim base, and a smooth plastic body. The A-Zooms are completely made of a soft aluminum including the rim base, polished horizontally which gives it ribbing and friction, the tips are shorter than .308 and causes failure to feeds, and the aluminum rim gets chewed up by my bolt action on the first use. The Tipton one lasts and works better. No aluminum bits to clean up inside my gun. Granted they don't look as nice as the A-Zoom, but it is a lot more functional and durable.

I bought two of these just to put in the rifle and release the hammer when it is stored. My idea was to save the firing pin, etc. I cycled one of these through my DPMS a just few times when storing only and the brass base (the part that would hold the primer in live ammo) came out of the red plastic casing and the whole thing fell apart leaving its' parts in my action, spring, base, case, dummy primer and all. Nothing was broken or mistreated. The brass base snaps into the red plastic case. I should have realized this would not hold up. I bought two and I threw both of them away. They are only good for a few practice fires if you are lucky.

I ordered this product for use as a dry fire training tool and a safe storage method for my bolt gun. One of the two snap caps shattered while chambered only after being struck by the firing pin and extracted about five times. I've had the other snap cap in use for a few months now and it shows one crack where the brass base meets the plastic body. I feel that this product is hit or miss and not really up for constant use. If you're looking for a training tool pick something else. If you're just looking to safely discharge your firing mechanism for storage, it SHOULD be fine.

I have these Snap Caps in several calibers in this brand and have always had good service from them, I use these in calibers including 300 Ultra Mag, 300 Win Mag, 270 Win and on down to .223, I also have them in pistol calibers including 45acp, 40S&W, 9mm and others all of these have served me well without problem. I have 2 other brands of Snap Caps in .308 and .50A&E, the 308's are the plastic/rubber type and the 50A&E is the all Aluminum type. These are not as good as the Tipton brand. The plastic 308 cap has worn the entire rim out all the way around and fails to extract due to the entire rim being damaged and destroyed. It serves ok to release pressue on the firing pin spring but even thats questionableThe All Aluminum 50A&E is decent and works well enough for cycling through the action in this caliber but uses a small plastic plug in the rear of it to simulate the primer, this part wore out very quickly and I no longer trust it to protect my firing pinI also have a Azoom cap for my 50BMG and 12 guage shotgun these 2 work nicely, the 50BMG is the correct size and shape and cycles through my action perfectly as does the 12 guage they also protect my firing pins well. the Azoom caps are very expensive compared to the Tipton though and I am not sure how well they work in intermediate calibersOverall the Tipton have been the best caps for the price, I dont use them as proving rounds as they are not really made for that purpose. They do protect my fring pins well though and the spring loaded "primer" works perfectly to protect the firing pin from damageI like the Tipton well enough I am back now to buy caps for my 308's and pick up additional 223 capsFor use as Snap Caps these are the best value I have tried, for Action Proving Rounds I prefer either Dummy Rounds I handload or the Aluminum A-Zoom capsI will continue using these Tipton Caps to protect my Firing Pins RemMax

Generally a satisfactory product. My Tipton caps in 9mm and 40 caliber have proved to be durable. That cannot be said for my 308 snap caps, in which the rim is soft enough to be gouged by the extractor on a black rifle to the extent that the entire rims are now rough. Depth of gauges about 0.02 in.

I use these to practice dry firing with my Accuracy International, I love them, they feed and eject perfectly and they are very durable. I like them so much I just ordered two more packs!

I have used this product in 270, 308 and 45 ACP. I have had one unit break (the plastic case cracked) but it was only after several years of repeated (dry) firing. I am very happy with the product line.

These things are amazingly well made. Brass base, tough plastic body. My rifle is hammering a good dent in the bottom so obviously they are providing a service.
