The 1377C is Crossman's ...

The 1377C is Crossman's latest offering of this .177 classic pumper. High points are low price, out-of-the-box accuracy, not too loud--good for indoor or backyard use, choice of power based on the times you pump it--3 to 5 great at 10 meters and up to 10x adds a lot of zip with good accuracy to at least 25-30 yards, and there are more custom mods and 3rd party parts available than perhaps any other mass produced air gun today. The downsides are plastic grips, easily replaced with a variety of very nice wood grips and an enlarged pump handle called a super pumper; plastic breach and sights, easilly replaced; and a sloppy and hard to squeeze trigger, easily improved by the owner or professionally done by numerous 3rd party customizers.I own two of these and have added wood target grips on one; a Crossman shoulder stock on another; super pumpers on both, and one is soon to be converted to .22 caliber as all of the necessary parts can be found on the web or numerous Crossman Blogs and ordered from Crossman or several 3rd party sources. This includes longer barrels, steel breaches, different sights, trigger shoes, scope mounts--the list goes on and on. With the super pumper and the basic geometry of the Crossman 1377C pumping it is easier and less tiring for me than my Benjamin HB-22 which is another good classic.

Out of the box the gun rates 3 stars. With a little tweaking it gains the other 2. However Crosman could save you the time and trouble and make it 5 stars in the first place. First: the plastic breach does not hold the barrel tight enough to prevent it from moving. When fitted with the barrel mounted Weaver adapters and a red dot sight, the barrel moves all over the place. The steel breach kit offered as an upgrade should be standard. It's fitted with heavier parts and a barrel set screw and integrated Weaver slots. Now the barrel is rock solid. Second item: the trigger pull. The trigger / sear spring is way to taught. The release is rough and horrible. No need to replace it though. Simply take it out, compress it by hand and reinstall. Trigger pull will be greatly reduced and feel is much smoother. 3rd, the plastic grips never tighten up enough. No matter how hard you mash the screws into the frame the grips still move back and forth in your hand under pumping. A couple little steel bushings would help. Crosman really went out of their way to make a great gun cheap. The only thing they could to make it worse is have it built in China next. Other than that. Kudos to the choice of sights by flipping the rear blade. I shoot mine from a rest at 14 yards and can put 7.4gr pointed field pellets through a dime sized hole, or smaller, all day long with a Simmons 30mm red dot sight. Has enough power to drop chipmunks at 22 yards where they stand like someone unplugged them. So, 3 stars for the foundations, 5 when tweaked. Can't go wrong either way you slice it!

The pistol was accurate but there is rubbing between the lever and trigger guard that is wearing at the finish everytime it is compressed if your not careful. Also the peep or ghost ring sight works great on the flip side of the rear sight piece but I had to buy a extremely small fine metal file to deepen the inside of the adjustable sight where a screw fits to adjust it up and down to deepen it enough to lower the partridge to a point where I could use it, It basically was hitting high on the lowest setting. And was not factory sighted from what I can tell. It is very powerful definetely fine for most small game hunting and very accurate once you get sighted in it can shoot pellets through pellets at 25 yards less then a .5mm spread very accurate nice trigger a little heavy but very crisp.

I have owned two of this product both the old model 1377 with the plasic breech and I am still receiving outstanding performance from the old model after nearly 20 yrs. And now I purchased the 1377C bolt action. I like this particular pistol so much I wouldn't want to be without one.

Just got one of these based on the reviews and the one my buddy had 40 years ago. Things have changed a lot in that time. I don't like the plastic grips, and now the sights are plastic also! However, I took it out in the back yard today and with very little sight adjustment, put 5 shots in a group I could cover with a nickle at 45 feet. To my mind thats a good airgun out of the box. I could not give 5 stars because of all the plastic, sure wish things were made of wood these days.

Wanted an air pistol to play with when things are slow in the shop. I bought this based on good reviews and am very happy. Very accurate right out of the box. I've only shot paper with it, but the power and speed seem impressive. Good buy for an adult who wants to practice trigger control and sight alignment.

I've owned this pistol for around 23+ years! The only difference is mine doesn't have the "bolt" assist handle. I didn't oil it for 20 years and the other day I put a little CLP on the oil ring and the compression was as good as the day I got it. I really like shooting the Darts thru it. I've only found the plastic tail ones lately but the ones I got a kid had a soft hair tail and they were awesome. This thing is so incredibly accurate with the stock sights I don't think you need anything else, I also bought the shoulder stock for it back then too and its held up perfectly (I Duracoated that and the charging handle and it looks killer). At 10 pumps it'll put a neat hole thru both sides of a beer bottle and not shatter it. If it can last 24yrs, it's a good gun.

I must say Im very impressed with this little number.I didn't think it would be as good of a shooter as it is so far Im getting 3/8" 5 shot groups at 10 yards.There are lots of mods on the market for this airgun and it seems to have plenty of power. I did tests using ballistics gel tonight and with 3 pumps I got 4", 5 pumps 4-1/2", 7 pumps 5" and 10 pumps 6"of penetration at 10 yards using hunting point pellets.Not bad for a airgun of this price. I would say very easy to use. I had my wife who is a first time shooter using it and hitting bull with it at 10 yards.After the testing, I would say this airgun would be great for up to rabbit size game at 30 yards maybe further but I'm saying 30 just to keep it on the safe side and with how well it shoots. I'd be willing to bet it would also be a great airgun for crow and other small garden pests.If you get this 1377 airgun, I think you would be happy.Safe shooting everyone :D
