The best way to carry extra rounds in the most convenient and accessible location for quick reloading without losing sight. Mounts directly to the shotgun receiver with an aircraft-grade aluminum mounting plate. All mounting screws and hex head wrenches included.

Technical Information

Note: This mount will not work with the factory forend on most magnum shotguns. To use the 6 round carrier, forends that cover part of the receiver during cycling will have to be replaced with one that does not, such as Advanced Technologies Tactical Standard Forend, product # 101655.

Very well made and ...

Very well made and engineered. Fits like original manufacturers equipment. Zero fitting required on a 500A Cruiser. Holds extra rounds TIGHT but easy to access and load. The one caution I'll add, to you heavy hands like me, is not to over-tighten the screws that attach the ammo holder to the mounting plate as you will tear the material on the holder(its kind of soft in the corners). Functions flawlessly.

Would have given a higher rating but for some reason this company has not figured out to send the right size threaded nut, it is NOT 8/32 like it says it is, do yourself a favor and get the proper size before you get this product and tell TacStar to fix the problem, I forgot that 10 years ago when I bought one for my first shotgun I had the same problem. Another good tip is before you put the aluminum plate against your receiver you better file the threads down or you will scratch your receiver which will ruin your blue or parkerizing. Last tip, record your SN because it does cover it.

Mounted quick and easy on my Mossberg 930 SPX. I shoot action shotgun and Three Gun Matches at least once a month, so I have used it frequently. I like having a "quick six" handy to reload. One problem I noticed right away-if you over tighten it, it will pinch the receiver and cause a failure to feed, but no matter how much loctite I used, I can't get it to stay tight on the gun for very long, especially during a long match. I've had it for over a year now, and I have discovered I can no longer feed shells in it from the bottom, because when I fire off a round, the three rearmost shells fall out. I have to top load all the shells, which costs me time. As soon as I can afford a replacement, this one goes in the garbage.

Yesterday I submitted a review of this saddle that said it was slightly incompatible with the BLACKHAWK SpecOps NRS stock. This was based on a shotgun I bought where the saddle had already been crudely installed with this buttstock in place. Upon removing it I realized the metal plate had been installed upside down and when installed correctly, the problem I mentioned disappeared. It is possible it may still not work with the included forearm as the forearm that comes with this stock is extra long but I haven't mounted the forearm yet to check. Please delete my previous review as it would give an inaccurate idea about this product.

This is an awesome item and is easy to install. The only reason I'm taking off one star is because of two issues; once mounted the side saddle completely covers up the shotgun's serial number. This is not a major issue but might bother some people. I'm thinking of having the number engraved on the forward part of the metal mount but then it would have to remain with this shotgun (which isn't a problem for me). The other thing is that this side saddle does not fit properly with a BLACKHAWK Specops NRS stock. The stock protrudes a little toward the sides and the sideplate extends far enough that it's over this area meaning that it will not fit flat against the side of the firearm. I'll probably take a dremel tool to cut a tiny slice out of it but this will also cut one of the six screw holes that hold the saddle onto the side plate so it will probably mean drilling and tapping another hole a little further toward the center. Not a major issue for someone mechanically adept but if you're not comfortable modifying things you might want to avoid this particular combination

EXCELLENT product and really simple to install. Doesn't affect sight line at all. I competed in 3 gun matches and learned after my first one that reloading a shotgun REALLY eats up your clock. I saw many of the better shooters using this same set-up with all shells loaded in the sidesaddle brass down so when the gun is upside down for loading the shells go in much quicker. This works for home defense as well!!!

Just got this like 30 min. ago, seems ok holds the shells a little tight and for mine anyways the holes for the screws to bind the plate with the holder did not all line up good but looks solid and does its job and for anyone with a ATI top folding stock who likes that stock I would not get this I have one and it will not fold with this on I don't really care I was going to change mine to an M4 type stock so not a big deal for me. FYI

I installed this on my Mossberg 590A1 18.5" barreled shotgun in less than 10 minutes and absolutely love it. The base plate attaches easily with the replacement pin and screw provided. The plastic shell saddle attaches securely to the base plate and has a slight warp to it that flattens as you tighten it down which puts the screws under tension and prevents them from backing out. Well worth the price.

Easy install, easy to follow instructions. Took 10 mins while I was multitasking. Gave only 4 because I do not how well it hold up. Back plate and hardware are there along with Allen wrenches. Found Cottonwood AZ on back of shell holder and glad to see that. Always willing to help out local companies.
