I bought these and fired a box and a half through my PF-9 with no issues at all. They were more accurate through the PF-9 than my usual 124 gr +p golden sabers and with less recoil, which was the idea behind the switch. I can't speak to performance beyond accuracy from a PF-9. Both of my boxes had the brass colored primers, for what it's worth. I intend to buy more if I can find them.

This poor rating is only when this ammo is used with the 9mm Walther PPS because it won't feed properly. The polymer tip of this ammo seems to stick against the feed ramp of the barrel in the Walther PPS. So it won't cycle reliably. I had the pistol checked by S&W and then also contacted Hornady about this issue. Hornady stated that the PPS is the one pistol that won't feed with this ammo. So if you have a Walther PPS, save your money and don't try this ammo. Note that I only tested the 9mm version, so I don't know if this problem also exists on the PPS in .40.

I have tested this ammo with a XD-9mm Subcompact and Ruger LCP .380. I am pleased to say that the reduced recoil is quite a more noticeable than I thought it would be. I estimate that the lower recoil let me accurately put 80 - 120% more rounds on target in rapid fire than I could before when using my previous carry ammo CorBon 115 gr. P+. Additionally since I work in northern states in winter more than I like, the reliable expansion through heavy winter clothing is a huge selling point for me. Finally, the sharply reduced flash in low light/night conditions and bright nickel plating are both icing on the cake for me.

Despite my affection for 124+P 9mm rounds, this load continues to reside in my subcompact personal carry weapon. Every time I want to change it out I compare shooting it to other rounds, and the Critical Defense continues to be the most accurate and controllable (for me) out of a short barrel, lightweight pistol. This bullet may not have the weight, power, or versatility of other high quality rounds, but it is accurate and reliable. I've seen experienced officers become very inaccurate with their shooting ablities using full sized service pistols when put under stress. If you carry a subcompact, do not practice often, you don't want to use a round that is hard to control when you are put under stress. Shot placement is key, and with this round I feel confident that I can put rounds where I need to under stress, and the round will preform once it hits its target. Also, the red insert looks cool :-)

This ammo really performs.After unloading rounds into multiple mediums including soil, clothing, gelatin, cardboard and more, this always reliably fired and expanded.The expansion was always consistent and uniform out of my LC9 as well.The only downside to this ammo is that it grouped consistently lower than my standard federal 115g practice ammo.

Great accuracy and flawless feeding in my mostly stock G19. Had to shoot a deer a few weeks ago and grabbed a mag of these FTX's instead of the normal 124 +P's I carry. The bullet performed as advertised - good mushrooming was evident from the exit wound. Great for new self-defense shooters too as it isn't as snappy as the +P loads.

Unlike Rich B's experience with his PPS, my PPS fired 25 rounds without a single problem. My M&P.40 also ran 25 rounds without an issue. Accuracy and recoil were very good. I'd buy it again when my other boxes are gone...YMMVMerry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

I have shot over 150 rounds through my Walther P99, and I have had no problems out of this ammunition. Worked perfectly and has very low muzzle flash. Excellent Ammunition for self-defense!

Tested in a Stoeger (Beretta) Cougar 8000 I found this ammo to be accurate, surprisingly low on recoil, no muzzle flash even on a dark day, and 100% reliable. I will be buying more.
