This nylon cleaning jag applies pressure on the patch to hold it against the inside of the barrel. Bore Tech recommends 3-1/2" patches for 10 to 20 gauge and 2-3/4" patches for 28 and 410 bore shotguns.

This is a fantastic ...

This is a fantastic product! Been cleaning shotguns for 40 years and never could get a snug patch fit. Always had to bunch up expensive shotgun patches. I've used this to remove lead from rifled barrels and with a normal 30 cal patch, applied JB Bore cleaner to get out buildups.

Great little product!! ...

Great little product!! Makes cleaning a snap in only a few patches. The little "fingers" on the front depress and allow this jag to pass through any size choke while still cleaning the rest of your barrel. Sure beats a brush with a patch wrapped around it. After repeated use, my jags are working great.

This jag was good at the ...

This jag was good at the start for me but after awhile the plastic threads wore out a little and the jaggle just fell off of my rod. I took a piece of paper and wrapped it onto the threads and its alright now. the design is a good idea but not firm enough. its designed to sqeeze through a choke and it does that nicely. however, you cant get the proper friction and snugness in your barrel to clean it well when the plastic squeezes just from being in contact with the barrel walls. Overall this product is alright but I would definitly reccomend a brass jag before this.

The Bore Tech Shotgun Jag ...

The Bore Tech Shotgun Jag does exactly as advertised. Here are some suggestions for successful use and longevity. Using the "Brand Name" suggested solvents and oils is fine. Do NOT use solvents that effect nylon products. Do NOT force the jag straight through a narrow choke. Turning the jag through a tight choke is recommended as well as using a thinner patch if the fit is too tight. Nylon will break if subjected to the wrong types of chemicals or when excessive force is used. Be sure the thread size matches your cleaning rod, or the threads of your rod have not been damaged by another poor quality attachment (burred threads, incorrect size, etc). Don't ever force thread an attachment into your cleaning rod. Burs, improper threading, etc. can ruin most rods. Nylon attachments are giving in that they will take the damage instead of damaging a metal or carbon rod. Use a good quality bore brush to do the heavy scrubbing then finish with this quality product. One final suggestion, as of this writing, Midway USA has the exact same product under a different brand name for a dollar or so less. Same Pat. No., different packaging. I purchased BOTH just to find this out and pass it along to the "thrifty minded" folks out there. I gave the "other" brand 5 stars for the price difference.
