The RCBS Pro2000 Auto Index Progressive Press is one of the easiest ways to get started reloading with an auto indexing progressive press. The rock solid cast iron from will last a lifetime and the five stations allow plenty of room for additional reloading dies to make reloading more efficient. This press can reload up to 600 rounds per hour and has enough compound leverage to handle even the toughest resizing jobs. The quick change die plate allows for convienence switching between calibers and accommodates standard 7/8"-14 threaded pistol and rifle dies.

I have been reloading for only 10 years, and this is my first progressive press. Most of the avid reloaders that I talked to said to go with a Dillon. I have only used RCBS, so I thought I would continue with what I have had success with. Not having any experience with progressive presses, I have to say that this press is extremely easy to assemble and use, and I love the auto indexing. I recommend reading the directions at least one time, before you start unpacking and assembling. They are not written by the best technical writer, but they are easy enough to follow for someone with no experience with progressive presses. I agree with the prior review that the detent spring is so tight that it does cause powder to flake out of the case as the shell plate indexes. I simply placed the bullet over the charged case, before allowing it to index and this problem was solved. The bullet does stay in place for two indexes, before it is run into the seater die. The primer strips work great and RCBS includes a primer strip loader that is very convenient, if you don't want to purchase primers that are pre-loaded into the strips. As far as the powder measure, I think that it works well enough for pistol loads. The spring on the powder measure is also tight. If you pull the handle too fast, the micrometer slams down and throws off the charge. I found that a slow, smooth pull down and slow push up (during the priming step) keeps the powder measure throwing consistent charges. I checked the charge every ten cases for 800 rounds. It was off as much as .4 grains when checked on an electronic scale. I had to keep re-adjusting the micrometer, until I slowed down the press stroke. When I started to slow down the stroke, my charges only deviated by .1 grains and were much more consistent. Once I figured out what I was doing, I was loading about 300 rounds per hour. I don't know that I will ever make it to the advertised 600 rounds per hour. So far, I have loaded 800 r

I've loaded 12,000 rounds this year on my Pro 2000 auto. Cast iron construction, solid primer feeder, the best powder measure, very accurate on repeatability in terms of powder, OAL and crimp. Unfortunately this press also has a dark side. The indexing feature is not well designed. The activation of indexing happens so late in the downward stroke that it must happen very quickly. In addition, the large ball detent takes over to whip the shell plate into position and then thumps the bottom of the shell plate. This causes powder splash in small pistol cases, such as 9mm and 40sw. 45acp and larger is OK. Due to the ball detent finishing the index stroke it is subject to the interference of dirt and debris. The index pawl is very sensitive to debris also. After only 250 or so rounds the shell plate must be removed and the entire top area must be cleaned. Every 500 rounds or so the index pawl and the primer feeder must also be removed and cleaned or things will begin to jam up. Not such a big deal when loading up 200 rounds for your next practice, but a royal pain in the neck when trying to load up large quantities. Don't even consider it for smaller calibers as you will be forced to run it as a manual index press to avoid powder splash. Parts quality on the press is first rate and in terms of wear, every thing is holding up extremely well. Customer service is also very good, there just isn't much the guy on the phone can do with the poorly designed index system. If you primarily run small batches or shoot less than 800rds per month, than this press will work fine for you. If you are like me however and reload closer to 1500-2000rds per month this press might not be your best choice. Special note: The bulk of my reloading volume is with cast lead bullets. Jacketed would keep things much cleaner and it wouldn't have to be cleaned as often to maintain smooth operation.

Like everything EXCEPT: the auto-index sticks only occasionally. You can get past that if you wait to push the handle forward for the priming step until AFTER you insert the next case into station 1. (It finishes the index with that little bump.) If you pay attention, and keep the ejector wire tight and in the right place, it works great! Happy Reloading!!!!

I've used and or tried almost every type of Reloading press except the PRO2K until I purchased one. Always read instructions of anything first!!! Set up time was minimal, caliber conversions set up was less than half the time and far less costly than a XL650, solid cast iron construction (the only one in it's class). Powder spill is a little technique, or don't pull the handle so fast, (hint: use quality gun oil, or grease under shoulder bolt), this press has an excellent fail-safe priming system, and the only press that uses FULLY SUPPORTED SHELL PLATES for benchrest quality ammunition. The need for a Dillon Warranty is obsolete, this equipment is far beyond overbuilt. The Dillon is without a doubt a most excellent well designed piece of equipment, but feel they are for a more experienced reloader. Weather a seasoned veteran, or a novice hand loader, this is a truly do all handle all press that will last generations, with premium customer service, you can't go wrong.

I considered both the Dillon and the RCBS - I chose the Pro 2000 - no regrets! I had a few minor issues with it all due to my own lack of patience but RCBS has provided absolutely 1st Class support. They have stepped me through my own issues and have been excellent. I especially like the way I change calibers. Pull 2 pins, slide in a new die block with its dies and good to go! I will never disparage Dillon, not having owned one, and most of the guys who have them seem to like them a lot - same holds true with the Pro 2000. I bought the auto indexing and glad I did.

I bought this instead of a Dillon and have been very unhappy!( My wife wanted me to get the Dillon, I bought the Pro 2000 because it was cheaper. You get what you pay for!) Between the primer feed (I even purchased the auto primer feed to help and solve the problems of the plastic strips) and the powder spilling all over the place it was frustrating to try and use. I spent more time trying to get rounds loaded than actually loading them. I ended up buying a Dillon 650 and there is no comparison, the Dillon is what they say!! I was always a RCBS fan until I bought this Press. For single stage they are hard to beat. Anyone want to buy a slightly used Pro 2000?

I've loaded ~50k rounds on my Pro2000. I have the RCBS pistol bullet feeder on my mine for the 1k+ jobs to speed things up a bit and get 600 to 1000 rounds an hour depending on caliber. It's not uncommon for me to load an entire case in a day, 3500 complete rounds.Avoiding powder spills is a technique you have to understand. You simply have to be inserting the next case as the press indexes. It very easy once you get used to it and keeps that last little jerk the press makes go away. Spilled powder is a thing of the past once you figure this out.Zero parts broken since new.Powder measure only asks that you operate it consistently. I use nice smooth strokes, never jerking the lever. I routinely get 0.1g variations on most "easy metering" powders and up to 0.3 on the more cantankerous stuff. I load about 20 different calibers from 7.62x25 Tok to .30-06 on this press, no issues with any of them.Use a little One Shot on the pistol brass to keep it running smoothly, not a requirement, but it smoothes things out, costs little and hurts nothing. Primer strips are super easy to load, way better than tubes if you ask me. Change over from .30-06 to .380ACP takes 5 to 10 minutes, including powder drop. The optional bullet feeder, another 10 minutes to setup.First rate press, I recommend it to all my shooting buddies.

This is an EXCELLENT press, I love RCBS's quality and love how they stand behind every product (if anything breaks or just simply wears out, call 'em!). But ... I want to reiterate what the bottom reviewer said about having to take it apart and clean out the primer feed compartment roughly every 500 rounds. It's not difficult, but takes about 20 minutes and always seems to happen just when you don't have time. Tonight the primer feed jammed up in less than 200 rounds and really aggravated me. What jams it is a build up is pieces of polishing media. They get there from the deprime step, where the deprime pin knocks out the one media kernel piece that's always stuck in the primer flash hole. It only takes a few that work their way into the primer strip feed well to jam it up. Again in my humble opinion, it's an awesome press, 'cept for this aggravation. RCBS, you listening?
