Not only does this ...

Not only does this flashlight cost way less then Surefire, but its brighter, and uses one AA instead of CRs. I have kept this flashlight on me at all times aboard my cutter and it has stood up to almost two years of abuse and drops. Very good flashlight.

I was looking for a high ...

I was looking for a high output pocket flashlight. Something that had good power, was smaller and lighter than my Z2 Combat light, and that I could carry in my pocket. I looked at several Surefire options including the E1 series but didnt want to spend $100+, and really wanted something that took AA batteries. The Surefire lights are great, but just a little pricey to keep in an ashtray.I ordered the Alpha based on price and the Browning name. When I got it a few days later I was pleasantly surprised. This is a very well built light. The metal frame and controls are excellent and feel comparable to lights 4X-5X the price. The light output is comparable to my Z2 (and white due to the LED). The projection dia at 30" is a little smaller then the Z2.The one thing that the E1 has over this light is the low output mode that significantly increases the battery life and is good for close in. With AA batteries though Im not too concerned. I also feel that the clip on the E1 may be better.If I had to do it over again I may have spent the extra money for the Alpha Max. Not so much for the additional light output but for the fact that its slightly longer size would fit my hand better.
