If you must use a .22 CF on deer, this bullet gets the job done. I have taken 2 mule deer so far. Each with one shot. Neither went more than 100 yards after a solid lung-heart hit. Both bullets penetrated completely and left exit holes of about 3/4 inch in diameter. This is my pick for a home defense load for my AR-15 16" carbine also.

In the spirit of helping my fellow shooters find the right ammo fast! this is not the most accurate round in new mini 14 target edition. Gave it 4 stars because I do not want to denigrate based on a rifles preference. My brothers R-15 shoots this and most Ammo well. Go with 40 grain v-max for the Mini!

I shoot this ammo in a RRA Predator/Pursuit 20", 1 in 8 twist rifle. The velocity is slower than what is shown on the box but the accuracy is fantastic! 100 yd groups are all under 3/4 MOA and some clusters are under 1/2 MOA with five shots. After breaking in the barrel, I began adjusting and confirming bullet drop at all ranges from 300-700yds. Once set I noticed the rifle was really grouping tightly at all ranges. One 500 yd. group came in at 3.25"/5 shots! & 700 yd. shots on 12" steel plates were consistent and easily repeatable! Buy this ammo for your tight twist rifles, great product!!!

I would recommend this ammo for deer hunting and personal defense, with no reservations. They hold a consistent group and is devastating internally on deer. I shot a 6 pointer this season at 75 yards, a one shot stop! It blew out his right lung and exploded the esophagus. My range is only 100 yrds, so I can't speak to consistent groups over 100 but Ive managed consistent 1/4" groups at said range. In my opinion, a person can't go wrong with the Hornady 75 GR BTHP. Great Round!!

After testing a lot of ammo in my AR-15, Krueger barrel, 1 in 7 twist, this is the golden bullet. Out of 5 shots, all were touching.

Like another posting here, I couldn't get consistent performance with my Remington 700 VTR with a 9" twist. The 55 grain bullets produced results that looked like they came out of a shotgun. I tried other bullet sizes including 62, 69, 75 and 77. Without question, the 75 grain Hornady were the best. The VTR shoots 100 yard 3 shot groups at under 1/2" every time, only limited by the shooter. Before you give up on a 223 bolt action high twist rifle, give these a try.

Broke in a Krieger 1/8 SS ...

Broke in a Krieger 1/8 SS 20" AR rifle with M193 by firing first 5 rds cleaning after each. Then 15 more, 5 at a time cleaning after each 5. I was able to see 1" or slightly less @ 100 yds.Cleaned completely then after 30 minutes fired a 3-shot group with the Blackhills 75gr remanufactured ammo. This group was less than 3/4" and was low and left. Made scope adjustments then fired two more 3-shot groups of about 1/2" (no BS). I cleaned and fired one more 3-shot group and repeated POA and size covered with a dime and had room to spare. Just ordered more and will buy 1000 next.

I bought a new Tikka T3 in .223 with 1 in 8 twist barrel and was unable to get the lighter bullets to perform on paper. Tried these and wow!!!! 100 yds had 3 shot group in 1/2 inch..thought it was luck...next shot knocked the small diamond out the center of the stick on target...no more shots...keeping it for hunting and scared I wont find more!!!! Awesome stuff!

I fired about six different commercial loads through my Rem 700LTR with a 1 in 9 twist and can, and these grouped best by far. Best group was one hole at 100 yds, about .25 MOA. I bought the last 11 boxes from a brick and mortar store, and I'll be buying more from Midway...
