I purchased one of these buffers and a Wolff extra power buffer spring for a "bolt bounce" problem in my Colt AR-15. The problem disappeared from the first shot and I didn't stop smiling until I had fired over 300 rounds of standard .223 Remington 55 gr fmj ammo without any problems. This is an excellent product and combination for curing a "bolt bounce" problem. The price was great and the product quality top notch. Also, delivery time was unbelievably quick. Thank you Midway!!!!

At 4.5oz, it's much ...

At 4.5oz, it's much heavier than H1, buy a touch below Colt's H2. I ordered it for AR57 12" w/silencer that cycles fast. But the AR57 'full-auto' buffer is more at 5.7oz, thus the DPMS buffer would not suit it's intended purpose for me. However all is not lost, as it found a home in my 10.5" Colt AR 6933. It function fine w/the supplied 3.8oz, but the DPMS makes the recoil like a pussy-cat.

This is not an H Buffer. ...

This is not an H Buffer. It is an H2 Buffer originally developed by Colt for the U.S. M4 Carbine. The H Buffer was designed to prevent light firing pin strikes due to bolt carrier bounce. Colt developed the H buffer which includes 1 tungsten and 2 steel weights. The H2 Buffer is for use with the heavy barrel and is not for use with any standard-weight barrels. It has 2 tungsten and 1 steel-weight. The other reviewers that are experiencing reduced cyclic rates on full-auto are probably using standard-weight barrels with the H2 Buffer. It will still work but with the results the others mention. It is still a 5 star Buffer.

The concept of this buffer design was a direct result of a Navy version of a short barrel M16 M4 called the MK 18.Individuals who are utilizing multi-calibers on their M16 AR15 platforms will notice improved functioning and full auto guys will see a slight cyclic rate reduction which will be greatly appreciated. You wont be disappointed.

Excellent product to accurately reproduce the configuration utilized in the M4 carbine. A heavy buffer of this type enhances reliability by creating a secondary strike on the back of the bolt carrier. This achieves the same results as if you were hitting the forward assist after every shot.If one were to use it with a properly registered machine gun, it would also reduce bolt bounce and lower the cyclic rate.

I bought an H2 buffer for an AR-15 clone I was trying to get serviceable. The cartridge rims were being marked noticeably by the extractor claw, the sights would bounce off target - usually WAY off target; recoil was usually an uncomfortable slap - and the bolt carrier would frequently fail to lock open on an empty magazine (new spring and followers in the mags). The H2 buffer solved nearly every problem; I'm shooting an AR again, instead of an ill-tempered "Frankengun". Thanks, guys.
