The DeSantis Summer Heat is a bare bones minimum Inside the Waistband holster, and built from premium saddle leather. Its finely molded contours provide the weapon retention. The top is reinforced to ease re-holstering and the powder coated spring clip holds it securely to your belt.

Overall, not a bad holster. It can be a bit difficult to clip on to a pant and belt combo but for shorts it is very easy. The leather is tough and took quite a bit of time to break in. Maybe if you use a leather softner or baseball glove softener it will be quicker. One thing though, because of the shape of the holster and the stiffness/thickness of the throat, a crimson trace grip does not allow the revolver to sit all the way down in the holster. It is still secured but not seated all the way down. My main reason for purchasing this item was for wearing it with shorts or workout pants and occasions when I wouldn't need/want to wear pants and a belt. Recommended, yes but be aware that it takes a while to break in.

Workmanship & quality are ...

Workmanship & quality are excellent. Fits both a S&W Bodyguard 38 & Charter Arms 44 Special with excellent retention. Is comfortable and easily concealable. Reholstering is better than a nylon holster but not great. Cylinder catches on edge of the holster or the metal clip if you do not hold pistol tight to your body. Metal clip holds holster in place securely, but you have to take your pants down to take off the holster. With my works, I am in several places a day that it is illegal to carrry and having to de-gun is a hassle with the metal clip and reholstering. I would prefer a holster with belt snaps for what i do. For all day carry, it is a good holster.

Excellent holster. The clip, however is not. Very hard to put on and take off your pants. If you put on and take off often, this is not for you.

Holster itself is made ...

Holster itself is made very well. My 642 fits like a glove. The problem is with the clip. It slides up and down making it diificult to remove the holster. It gets caught on the inside of the waistband of some pants. If you put the holster on and plan on leaving it on all day...no problem. I have to take it on and off during the day and it is very frustrating. Midway was great. They told me to send back and they will exchange for another holster. I will continue to buy from this company!!!

Purchased for my S&W ...

Purchased for my S&W 342PD. The fit is perfect, the quality is awesome, not to mention the great price. I find it very comfortable (forIWB). The clip is also very solid. The only thing I do not like is the way the clip moves up and down slightly, which isn't a real problem, and may be typical for holsters of this design. If your looking for custom quality/fit at an affordable price, this is it.

Excellent product. Fit my S&W 642 like a glove. Easy on and off the belt. This holster is very comfortable for appendix carry. It also conceals the weapon very well.

Very well made. I've been carrying my S&W 649 everyday in this holster for four months and find it quick to draw, comfortable and secure. And it still looks new. Thick, stiff leather stays open after drawing which makes re-holstering easy. Yet, I have caught buses at a full run and everthing stays put. I have a box of other hoslters and stopped carrying anything else.

The clip can be hard to ...

The clip can be hard to get on/off at times. Also if you have Crimson trace grips the revolver will sometimes hang up on edge of holster. These are the only two reasons why I rated this 4 stars out of 5 stars. It's a very well made holster and is nice to wear with boardshorts or other belt less application. Takes a while to break in as the leather is stout when it's new.

Great holster! I use Mink Oil on all mine and the leather looks great. I have also used baseball glove oil and it also works great. This is my first Desantis and I will be buying more. Great price for a great holster!

I bought this for a S&W ...

I bought this for a S&W bodyguard, I think this brand is slightly more affordable than others partly because they don't come with a case. Naturally the hunt was on for a suitable holster, and as far as quality and craftsmanship go this was a perfect choice. It clips on securely behind my belt on my waist band in front and allows for easy access. Unless you got a huge gut this was a perfect fit, not over tight but wont slip out either. Midwayusa actually sold it $15 cheaper than the manufactuer's website.
