I have most Nosler reloading manuals and have enjoyed them all. The newest is certainly their most extensive. Solid load data if a bit conservative at times. Sleek packaging with a black cover and grey Nosler lettering. I think Nosler will continue to be a market leader great memoriam written by John about his grandfather John. As ususal the cartridge introductions are written by prominent writers in the outdoor world and are one of the best features of Nosler manuals. I do have some questions about book durability as my #6 is falling apart, and #7 appears to be the same type of binding(guess that means I read it alot) my #3 which I have read since I was a teenager front to back looks like new. Whoever they had bind those books did a great job. Overall good guide with some organization issues but nothing insurmountable.

This book is just a REHASH of #6. Unless you have one of the newer calibers ie 6.5 Creedmoor, 300 ACC, 30 TC one of the RCM etc this book is a waste of time and money. Of the calibers I load for 223, 7-08, 280, 7 Mag and 308 they did very little other then add their E-Tips to my data that I already had. Their E-Tip data was just and email away. With all the powders that have come out since #6 was first printed ie 8208xbr, rl17, 2000&4000 mr, cfe223 and a few others you would think you would find a better variety of powders for the calibers I load for but you don't. The only bullets weight that had any real changes was the 175-180 class bullets in 308. They will be releasing new bullets in early 2013 that are not included in this data Accubond Softpoint Long Range. Unless you load Nos bullets in a new caliber don't waste your money on this one. 15 years of reloading and some of the best powders with their bullets in the calibers I load for aren't mentioned at all ie 8208xbr, 4007ssc, and the best h4895 in 7-08 & 308. I will be regifting it very soon!!!!! But as always Midway's service was SPOT ON!!!!!!

The biggest Nosler manual yet

This is a big book compared to the first six editions of Nosler's manual. There are over 860 pages in this edition. There is a good bit of information on their bullets, including very good cutaway photos and fired bullet photos, which may be a bit propaganda, but also can be helpful if a particular hunter is fussy about what he wants his terminal ballistics to look like as an end result. They included a larger basic reloading section than in the past, (though still not anything like Lyman's, the best manual for the beginner, in my studied opinion). There is a larger powder burn rate chart than found in most manuals, with 178 powders. Each cartridge has a one-page write-up by a well-known gun celebrity, gun writer, or Nosler staff member (except 14 cartridges that have been moved to the appendix as obsolete cartridges), and as in the past, one of the features of a Nosler manual is the in-chart accuracy recommendations at one of three load levels, plus an overall 'best powder
tested' notation for each cartridge. I've found from past experimentation that the accuracy loads found in the Nosler manual tend to match my own reality better than some of their competitors.

There are universal drop tables to 600 yards by ballistic coefficient (not enough to plan a shot with, but good enough to get you on paper if you are long-range shooting). There are also energy tables and there's now a one-page manual for Nosler's ballistics app for iOS products (everybody now seems to have an app for the iPhone, even the shooting sports. I can't imagine taking my iPhone out just before shooting at a trophy elk, but that's a topic for another, probably humorous, blog post.). They also throw in a handy glossary at the end of the manual.

As usual, Nosler tends to focus more on rifle cartridges than handgun cartridges, but their handgun bullet selection continues to grow. Here are the changes since the 6th edition.
