I now own three single stage presses (RCBS RS2, Lee Challenger and a Partner)and the Partner is the lesser of the three. For less money you can get a Lee Challenger which is a MUCH better press. The opening on the Partner is just too small for any serious use. If you need only limited use and have small hands, you may find the Partner suitable. Overall fit and finish are good as with all RCBS products.

Great press for the money!

My dad bought this press about 25 years ago. We used it off and on reloading our matching S&W 686 .357 rounds. It sat on the shelf in the basement for many years while I went off to college then into the military. Fast forward to 2009. I got the press from him and have become an avid reloader. Since 2009, I've reloaded many thousands of pistol rounds (9mm/.40/.45/.357) as well as many thousands of rifle rounds (.223/.308/30-30/30-06) with this press.

I have no real complaints. Yes, it spits the spent primers all over the place. I keep my reloading bench spotless, so it gets the shop-vac after every sizing session. No big deal. I can thank the military for that cleanliness discipline, hahaha.

As long as you keep this press cleaned and lubed, you should expect a lifetime of use. I'm looking at buying another one to use as a dedicated rifle press while I use my original 25 year old press for pistol rounds.

I gave this review 5 stars because reloading is therapy for me, and my Partner press provides very happy times. I really couldn't care less about spent primers getting spit on my floor. Shop-vac+cleanliness discipline = no problem.

I got this press a few ...

I got this press a few years back as a Xmas present and have loaded many thousands of rounds of .32 ACP, 38 Special, .357 Magnum and .45 ACP. The only problem so far has been stripped threads on the handle and inside the handle block after a lot of hard use. A quick call to RCBS customer service, and I'm getting the replacement parts plus some spare retainer rings for the pins holding everything together at no cost. So the durability may not be quite what I wanted (in the long run), but the excellent customer service for replacement parts is superb and the overall performance up to the need to replace the handle has been excellent.I will start loading .223 Remington and 30-06 Springfield soon, and expect a great experience when moving up to rifle loads.

I had my Partner Press for 31 years and I use it every day to load 338 Lapua Mag, this press is the best one I ever owned, I later sold my other press after using the Partner Press, small but very strong, made high quality, durable tool for reloading, Ill buy another one for my son to start hand loading, Excellent press it served me well for many years! I would recommend it for the pro's or if your just starting out.

I recently received one of these presses from my dad as he was getting too old to reload anymore. Up until now I've been using a Lee single stage press that produced good ammo but after looking over and toying with the partner I think the ammo will come out even better - there is no play in the ram on the Partner compared to my Lee.After installing I did read quite a few complaints about the primer dumping out the priming tool slot and not into the bucket. I spent a few minutes looking over this while chewing on a straw. Looking at the cutout down the center of the ram I realized that the straw I was chewing on would fit in there perfectly and block off the primer slot while allowing the primer to dump into the catch. I had to bevel the straw at the bottom to allow the hole to be accessible but I have yet to dump a single primer onto the floor - they have all dropped into the catch. I didn't need the primer tool, all my case priming is done by hand with a hand primer while I watch TV.Enjoy, it's a great press.

Well my partner press finally got to loose to use. I only bought it in 1989 and pulled the handle about a million times loading ammo. Still works fine for plinking ammo but to loose for serious ammo. I have recommended this press to a lot of my shooting friends just getting into reloading over the year and still do. Great press for the money. I plan to stay Green for my next single stage

Bought one of these in a kit back in about 1991 and it finally broke last year (2010). Cracked at the base towards the rear. Called Midway they said RCBS had a lifetime warranty which I had forgotten. Called RCBS and they had me send it to them and they sent me a new one free. This is the only press I have ever had and am always thinking about getting a better more expensive update. The problem is that this little baby just keeps on working. I reloaded a few thousand rounds over the years. 270 win, 308 win, 8mm, 243 win, 22-250 Rem, 7.5x55 Swiss, 45 colt and 44 special. It is lighter not being steel but it works. I still want a bigger, better press but I guess I don't really NEED one.

I purchased this press ...

I purchased this press about 10 years ago (but not from Midway-didn't know they existed at the time) to begin reloading of all things 9mm. Since that time, it's loaded most typical handgun calibers, and many magnum handgun rounds up to and including .500 S&W. It's also loaded up several rifle calibers from .223 up to .30-06 and .45-70. This press has performed more than admirably. I just wish I knew where my primer arm went. Ammo loaded with this press is more than good enough for my purposes in regard to precision. I've made several hundred rounds of various rifle calibers and several thousand of handgun calibers, and it still keeps on crankin' em out. If you're a low volume reloader, and prefer RCBS products, you'll probably be well served with this press. If I had any complaints, it would only be that primers sometimes jump out of the eject hole and miss the cup, but it only seems to happen with certain types of ammo.

I won one of these little presses at an IPSC match back in 1991. I use it primarily for priming operations now, but I've loaded lots of ammo with it and it's still in excellent condition. I've loaded .38/.357 magnum, .45 Colt, .45 ACP, .243, .30-06 and .375 H&H magnum with it. It's small, but it's high quality and does the job well.

3 years and still working ...

3 years and still working - This press works well but does use more torque to get it working. It is slightly short for the 06 and magnum brass but doable and the primer catch bin is kinda Mickey Mouse. This press has produced consistent accuracy. Good beginners press but the extra 50 bucks for the RCBS Jr press in my opinion is a better deal (robust, taller, use less force). Next press would be a Jr press but that could be 30 years from now.
