Harris Bipod Adapters

Material: Steel

Application:

Number 2 Flange Nut:

Allows mounting of swivel stud on hollow synthetic forends. Flange is 5/8" wide by 1 3/8" long
Number 2A

5/8" round head flange nut works well on Ruger Model 77 Synthetic stocks
Number 2R

Has radiused flange for mounting to wood fore-ends under magazines or gas tubes
Number 3:

For Remington Model 4, 74 and 7400
Number 4 Universal Barrel Mount:

Requires 2" of clear barrel for mounting. Clamps to barrels from .550" to .812"
Number 5 Stud:

Fits AR-15 A2 handguards, sling swivel included
Number 6 Stud:

Slides into 3/8" rails and locks in place with a set screw
Number 6A Stud:

Slides into 5/16" rails and locks into place with a set screw
Number 7A:

Rubber spacer may allow mounting on thin forends and Schnable type forends. Reversable to change angle of bipod
Number 8 Stud:

For Remington XP-100 synthetic stock. Includes a 7A spacer. Requires drilling
Number 9:

For flat-bottomed stocks
Number 14:

For Ruger Mini-30 and Mini-14. Fits standard and ranch rifles. Will not fit the 180 series or Ruger folding stock. Quick detachable

I received this in the mail today and had it installed in about 5 minutes. Perfect fit on my two piece round handguard. I put it in the third hole from the front like was suggested by Harris, and it works perfectly. It serves two purposes; it allows me to have a bipod without changing out my handguard, and it allows me to use quick disconnect sling swivels instead of factory loop. Highly recommended if you don't want to spend the money on a different handguard.

Instructions could be a little more informative for removing the swivel. Not a big deal, once you got the swivel off it is a snap to install.

Installed on M4 CAR ...

Installed on M4 CAR handguards with only a screwdriver and a little bending of the aluminum heat shields. On my handguards there are two heat shields, slide the adaptor between them and push as far as you can toward the middle. Now the bending, I used a small screwdriver to bend the inner shield enough to let the adaptor slip into the right spot. Screw in adaptor into place, bend the heat shields back a little and replace the handguards. I'm pretty sure the shields don't need to be perfectly straight, might weren't and the handguards fit back on my RRA upper just fine.

After reading some of the reviews about this Harris #5 adapter not being a "drop-in" fit for AR style carbines with Glacier handguards such as my Panther Arms/DPMS 7.62NATO Sportical, I called DPMS and they assured me I would not need any Dremel tool. They were right! The inside plate dropped in right between the finned sides and the hole lined up perfectly with the second hole on my lower handguard. I followed their instructions to file away on the swivel stud thread until it tightened up in perfect alignment for the sling swivel that comes with it. Ten minutes later, I was reinstalling the handguard. A good purchase and a very simple low-cost solution to the manufacturer's failure to provide a front sling swivel.

If you own a glacier style fore end (such as that on the S&W M&P 15) - make sure you own a dremel tool before buying - some minor modification to the inner plate and the heat shield are necessary for installation. Otherwise a great product.

The adapter fit my Bushmaster A2 hand guard without any difficulty. I originally used the 5th hole from the front so as to leave enough space between the bipod and the hand guard washer to prevent distortion of the barrel harmonics. However, the legs of the bipod would interfere with the bayonet lug and front sling.I would recommend using the 3rd hole from the front (as the Harris instructions recommend) and to use Ranger tape or a rubber band to hold up the sling mount.I used a 9"-13" standard L1A2 Harris Bipod with a 24" AR-15.

Works great to add sling stud to standard handguards. Warning! Will not work with DPMS "glacier" style M4 handguards - the fins inside prevent it from being installed.
