I have used this bullet in a .308WCF loaded to 2900fps for about 7 years. When used against smaller whitetails, it is a lightning bolt! But when used against larger deer, it is too fragile. I shot 4 deer with it last year and only one exited, a small doe. The other 3 were a large doe that went about 25yds before dropping, a 130lb buck who dropped in his tracks and a large buck which took a good hit but managed to get away and with no exit holes, the blood trail was next to nil. I recovered the peeled back base minus lead from the 130lb buck, not much left. I despise tough bullets but I'm going to have to switch to another since where I hunt now has a larger variety of deer.For small Eastern whitetails, it's hard to beat this bullet!

I loaded these up and used them in my 30-06 this past deer season. The bullets were very accurate at the range using Varget powder and loading a few grains below maximum. Both deer kills were at 60 and 48 yards respectively. One broadside and one slightly quartering away. The deer went down as though they were sledge hammered, but oh what a mess. The bullets entered just behind the shoulder on both, but never exited, and the insides of the deer were turned to puree'. I have never seen that level of destruction inside a deer. I have to assume the rounds exploded after entering, because we never found a trace of either of them. I wrote to Nosler and gave them a detailed account of loads, angles, and deer sizes. I never received a reply, so make your own assumptions. I am switching to Barnes X-bullets (which is what I used in my 7mm-08 hand gun). Much cleaner kill and just as effective a knock down.

Good Performing, Accurate Hunting Bullet

I've been loading this bullet for years for a Sako Finnbear, a Remington 700 and a Savage 110, all of them chambered in .30-06. My standard load is 61.0gr of RL-19 with a C.O.A.L. of 3.340". This gets less than 1 MOA out of all three rifles. My friend with the Savage has killed a LOT of deer with this bullet and load. I've killed several with it out of my Sako and the friend with the Remington has killed quite a few deer and pronghorns with it. The bullet has always performed perfectly, giving good expansion and pentration and leaving a good blood trail, although most of the time the deer drops within 20 yards or less. An extra benefit of this bullet is its high ballistic coefficient which gives a flat trajectory for extended range shooting and the plastic tip protects the bullet from damage in the magazine.

In both the .30-06 (2905 fps) and .300 WIN MAG (3200 fps), have thus far had exceptional accuracy and excellent terminal ballistics on big game. No excessive bullet fragmentation experienced, complete penetration through thoracic cavity on broadside shots, even if shoulder is struck. Penetration to thoracic cavity no problem with quartering away shots, either. All in all, an excellent bullet for either sporting or tactical use.

There bullets are accurate but the leave a lot of fouling in the bore if my 30-06 and my .243. They also didn't have very high weight retention. Accurate enough for match shooting but I wouldnt use these for deer hunting

Use a .308 win 150 grain. a few friends of mine use the same bullet in 300 win mag. the 308 works great and very consistent shooting dime size pattern at 100 yards (loaded with 45gn. ram shot Tac powder) anything less than 100 yards dont plan on eating what your shooting very high fragment... in 300 win mag that bullet will shy of decapitate almost anything under 150 yards

I've shot 5 deer with ...

I've shot 5 deer with this round in 2010 out of my .308. 2 deer fell in their tracks, 2 deer ran a short distance, and 1 deer was gut shot (bullet hit a cornstalk and deflected). I give this only two stars because of the two deer that ran. Both of those deer were shot through the lungs and the bullet made a pass through. However, other ballistic tips such as the Barnes TSX simply have shown 100% drop em in their tracks results. The reviews on the Hornady SST seem to be very high and those bullets cost about the same. I'm going to try them instead. These just don't live up to Nosler's reputation and they have lost a customer.

I shoot these in both my 30-06 and .270. I took a nice eastern NC 8 point (approx. 150 lbs) in Oct. of 2007 at approx 50 yards. He was broadside and unfortunately saw me as I slowly turned to aim. Once he looked away I raised up, aimed, and took the shot. He ran approximately 40 yards and dropped in a thicket. While looking for the start of the blood trail I noticed that the 150gr .30 caliber round struck the center of a 6 inch diameter tree. My scope and/or adrenaline evidently blurred out the tree. The bullet traveled through the tree, struck the deer, and made a complete pass through shot just behind both shoulders. Another was taken with my .270 at 390 yards in an open field. Complete pass through shot with a 25 yard blood trail. I watched him drop through my scope. That's the only two I have had run on these bullets after killing several with these. I shoot as close to the factory load specifications on Winchester's website as possible.

I have used these bullets in my 300 ultra mag and they work great on whitetail deer. I don't expect exit wounds though as they are not needed. When that much energy is transferred into a deer's shoulder massive destruction occurs and the deer drop. I load mine to max load in a Rem 700 300 ultra mag and they almost flip a deer over.

I have used this bullet in 3 different 30-06 rifles over the years, always with excellent results. However I will admit that it is at its best from 200 to 400 yards, anything under 100 and you risk heavy damage against large bone structure. My most recent 06, a Rem 700 SPS stainless 24" barrel shoots 3020 fps with a load of H380 and produced 5 three shot groups all sub 1/2 MOA at 100 yards, 2 deer and 1 antelope on my wall say this bullet rocks.

Very accurate in my Win 70. I shot a doe (80yds) with mild handloads (~2500fps) and did not experience the damage that the other posters have. The bullet did exit with a ragged quarter size hole.

The molly coating is very ...

The molly coating is very hard to clean out of the bore if you have an accurate rife these are probably not for you, but if your rifle bore is a little rough the molly will actually smooth and coat your bore and possibly tighten up your grouping
