Improves the accuracy of cast and jacketed bullet reloads. Doesn't stretch cases like standard expander button style dies do. Works in a two step process, the first step expands the inside of the case neck to just under bullet diameter. The second step expands the case mouth to bullet diameter or slightly over so that the bullet can be started perfectly centered.

Great reloading die

I began reloading my 30-30 and realized that those .30 caliber bullets are flat base and tend not go into the case mouth without manipulation, with the Lyman Neck Expander those days are over, the last step in my case prep is run that brass up into the Lyman Neck Expander and when I begin the seating process, the flat based bullets sit right on in there, I wish this die would have came with my two die rifle set..

The "M die" is the best ...

The "M die" is the best thing to come along for cast bullet shooters. It is a very good concept. However as I have found many neck expanding dies leave the necks small or tight (called neck tension) and size down the cast bullets by as much as .003 or .305 dia. for a 30 cal. You should pull your cast bullet after loading (maybe a uncharged case would be safer) and check the bullet diameter that is actually going to go down the barrel. The case should hold the bullet but not resize it. I have made "M die" expanders on my lathe to fit the barrel without causing the case to resize the bullet. The results are remarkable. My cast bullet selection is a painstaking searching for the perfect bullet without any flaws, consistent weight and perfect bases (no gas checks). But I have a A3 WWII Springfield "Remington Mfg." with a 2 groove (.308 dia. bore) barrel that can hold 5/8" at 100 yards. My "M die" is on the first step .3085 and the second step is .311. The case will shrink back with some memory this is why the "M die" is slightly larger than the bullet. Sure is fun to see the $1,000+ rifle try to do that. Last year I put 30+ shots in a one inch square on the target at 100yards and did it with a couple of guys watching..

Great for expanding the ...

Great for expanding the case neck without having to drag it over that always rough as hell factory expander ball. saves a lot of wear and tear on the case necks. I use this when loading .308 Win with boat-tail bullets. I grind down the factory ball so it doesn't touch and then use this die to expand. It's an extra step in the loading cycle but I think it worth it. It can also be to re-round the always dented case mouths on new cases. Works great.

Fantastic product for anyone loading flat based bullets. I had always had run out problems loading V-max until I tried this out. Particularly in brass with long thin necks like 30-30, this makes a big difference. It is also great if you are trying to seat moly coated bullets in nickel cases. The die has enough adjustment range to do any 308 caliber up to at least 30-06. Like most factory dies, it is worthwhile to spend a bit of time polishing it with a dremel. The finish as it came was ok, but a few minutes with a dremel turned it to mirror.
