Product Information

The best way to carry extra rounds in the most convenient and accessible location for quick reloading without losing sight. Mounts directly to the shotgun receiver with an aircraft-grade aluminum mounting plate. All mounting screws and hex head wrenches included.

Technical Information

Note: This mount will not work with the factory forend on most magnum shotguns. To use the 6 round carrier, forends that cover part of the receiver during cycling will have to be replaced with one that does not, such as Advanced Technologies Tactical Standard Forend, product # 101655.

Overall a very good addition to any shotgun. I have the same on a mossberg that looks and functions good. Plastic and metal are not very reflective and maintain a somewhat "flat black" look. It holds the shells very securely with no concerns about shells falling out (even if installed upside down). The actual shell holders are molded plastic with rounded edgeds so no worries about cutting yourself on sharp edges.However on my 2005 Remington 870 Police it would not fit. This is only due to the factory forgrip comming to far back onto the reciever and with the the six shot model installed you would not be able to fully cycle the action. Depending on your forgrip it may work for you. A quick way to see if it will fit on your gun before ordering is to cycle your action completly open. If your forgrip comes back past the first "R" in Remington then it will impact the shell holder when installed. The front edge of the shellholder sits exactly on the first "R" of the Remington stamp.The four shot model is the way to go if you have problems

I concur with the ...

I concur with the previous poor reviews. It lasted just about 40 shots before it broke free, tearing out the threads on the plate and stripping the mount holes. It looked and felt great as a cosmetic device, but did not hold up to actual use. I would not want it on my gun in a real "situation". Please learn by my mistake and save you $30.

Easy instructions But be extra careful not to strip the threads when installing. One screw seemed a little short, so i left out the washers. The screw was so short i could not get a bite on the threads to tighten. BE CAREFUL. Other than that, worked out perfectly with the Knoxx Stock fore-end made by Hogue.

I have had this carrier ...

I have had this carrier for over a year now and about 10 minutes ago I just broke it. The front screw, unlike the back screw, goes into the carrier and doesn't have an opening at the end it screws into. Because of this, very little of the screw is threaded into the unit and only the tip secures the carrier in place. I would still recommend this as a cheaper alternative to the other more expensive aluminum carrier. But today, I will be ordering the other one. I will openly admit that I probably torqued the front screw too tight in the PAST. Today, that was not the case. I had just barely screwed it into place when it made a click and the threads stripped. I think the biggest factor is because I have taken it on and off about 5-10 times. If you plan on installing it and never taking it off, you should be good to go. But I have had to take it off to add a sling mount to the receiver and to remove the trigger group on multiple occasions so I could install a new safety amongst other things. If you beat up your shotguns and periodically remove the trigger group to give the gun a thorough cleaning, this may not be the best. I had noticed some shavings coming out of the screw holes prior to today's event and now it finally gave way. Aside from today's tragedy, its a nice solid unit; with an Achillies' heal of only having a small internal metal insert to catch the screw threads. Just don't expect it to hold up if you take it on and off more than once.

I purchased the side saddle for my new (2011) Remington Model 870 Express Synthetic, 18" barrel, extended magazine. One reviewer voiced the concern that the side saddle may interfere with full cycling of the pump action. This is not the case with my version of the Model 870. I had the side saddle installed by a knowledgeable gun smith because I did not feel confident enough doing it myself. Once installed, the side saddle works great. It holds the shells securely and allows for a quick reload. I also enjoy the fact that the shell holder breaks up the monotony of an otherwise unmodified Model 870 Synthetic with six brightly colored shells.

Great price!!! Unit feels solid and a lot more reliable than I thought it would. Installation took about 5 minutes with the right tools. Tools provided did not help much, just use a hammer and pointed tool to pluck out the side pins.

Lasted about 40 rnds. Threads strip if you try to reattach it, maybe some LocTite would help. I think this thing rates as junk.

Comes with the necessary Allen keys to install it. Mine installed in about 10 minutes. It holds the shells nice and tight. You could mount the shells inverted and they wouldn't fall out.

I had very high hopes for this carrier. It kept a tight, stable grip on shells when firing, but not too hard that they were difficult to remove. However, the problem with this piece stems from the fact that it is two pieces - the plastic piece that holds the shells, and the metal plate that it is screwed to, which is what attaches to your gun. ONE FULL DAY AT THE RANGE AND THE SCREWS WERE LOOSENED, and the plastic piece came completely off. Being that it was an outdoor range in the desert, there's really no chance to find the screws. I suppose if your gun sits in the closet most of the time, this product will do, but if you're going to put a lot of mileage on it, don't buy this. I believe the Mesa Tactical saddle is one piece, which is what I'll be getting (guess I should have spent the extra cash to begin with..).

Excellent product. If the fore end hits the side saddle, it is a simple matter to shorten the fore-end. After removal, trim the receiver end of the fore-end, not the end with the retaining nut. I have used a power chop saw. Done neatly, you can not tell it was modified and you have the extra six shot capacity.
