I would say that it is ...

I would say that it is good spotting scope for the small price tag, but I wish I would have saved my money and bought a better one. On a clear sunny day it is a decent scope. Take it out on a cloudy day and I can't see my bullet holes at 100 yards at the range. It is just a blurred smudge. I also had the same results in the field. It just does not pick up enough light.

I am giving the Barska ...

I am giving the Barska Blackhawk Spotting Scope 20-60x 70mm 5-stars because of the optical performance on the one I received. I use a spotting scope at the range for competition, sighting in, and load testing, I use binoculars in the field. Seeing small caliber bullet holes in the black on a target at 200 or 300 yards calls for a spotting scope with high resolution, high magnification, and capable of edge to edge sharp clear focus. Over the past several years I have been looking for an upgrade to my old 50mm Bushnell Sentry spotter and when the opportunities presented themselves compared the performance of spotting scopes from different manufacturers with objectives from 50mm to 80mm. The prices of the scopes ran from a little less than the Blackhawk 70mm to more than 6 times as much. Many of these spotting scopes would show less resolutionthen the Blackhawk does and none, even much more expensive ones, seemed to have a better resolution image with better detail than the Blackhawk. The tripod that is packaged with the Blackhawk is simplistic and light and I am replacing it with a heavier bench top model with fine adjustments. The high end higher cost scopes have features like longer eye relief, single turn focusing over the entire range, higher maximum magnification and long established reputations for water and fog proof performance.For some spotting scope applications these features may be very significant to a userbut for range and competition use I recommend considering the Blackhawk 70, I have not been able to find a better alternative.

Great for the buck. ...

Great for the buck. Shooting 30-06 at 200 yards and saw every hole, even 5.56, at 200 yards. Clear, durable, easy to use.

I consider this scope to ...

I consider this scope to be an outstanding buy. I use a small caliber rifle(22-250) and had no difficulty spotting each shot from a considerable distance. I would like to see a heavier tripod. Living out here on the high plains of New Mexico we have fairly high winds which a heavier tripod would tend to stabilize.

Nice scope body ...

Nice scope body protection. Clarity is nice even at full magnification. Outstanding price for the quality. Impressed with the carrying case and other accessories such as the seperate soft case as well as a hard case with a shoulder strap. Locking hard case with foam divider and lens cloth. Tripod is plenty good for my needs. Overall a nice scope for the price.

After trying scopes in ...

After trying scopes in the $100-$500 range, we had not found one we liked. Most had insufficient eye relief for eyeglass wearers. We saw the ad and decided to try it out. We could always return it. We have had the scope set up indoors and checked out the back yard with noting to complain about. Today, we had a sunny day, and went to a local waterfowl hotspot. This scope was amazing, easily out performing the others we had tried. I framed a Great Blue Heron at 60X at a range of about 250 yards. The image was bright, sharp and crisp to the edges. Tiniest details were evident. At 20X the image is even brighter. There is some focus shift between 20X and 60X, but I have experienced that on $500 scopes. I would highly recommend this scope. I would buy it again, and may, just to have one to share!
