Product Information

Machined from aircraft grade stainless steel forgings and heat-treated to R/C 40 for maximum service life. Critical tolerances are held to less than .0005" to provide phenomenal accuracy (test barrels at the Wilson factory routinely shoot groups of 1/2" at 25 yards). Barrels are slightly oversized in the lock-up areas and require fitting by qualified gunsmith. 1911 barrels include barrel bushing. Additional bushings available separately.

Barrel dropped in without ...

Barrel dropped in without any fitting. Tight lock up. First trip to the range I fired 200 rounds, flawless feeding. Accuracy is amazing, huge improvement over the stock barrel. No Glock bulge in the cases. I am looking forward to developing handloads that take advantage of this barrel's accuracy potential. I am very pleased with the quality and accuracy of this Wilson barrel.

This Barrel fit perfect ...

This Barrel fit perfect as it came. My gunsmith did polish the ramp, and de-burr some of the edges but other than that it fit. You can tell a big difference of how sloppy the stock barrel was. Make a note, the stainless and the Satin black are the same number, 380. Make sure to Identify which one you want.

Barrel did require quite ...

Barrel did require quite a bit of "fitting" with a wet stone to install it. This took me about an hour and a half, but it was my first time doing something like this. Shame that you have to remove some of the finish to make it function, but not on any part that can be seen once the gun is assembled. At the range the barrel dropped my group size in half at 20 yards compared to the Glock factory barrel and that was the point of the whole exercise, so I am happy. The Wilson Combat barrel is more picky about ammo due to the tighter bore dimensions, so size check your reloads with the barrel before going to the range.

A very handsome barrel ...

A very handsome barrel right out of the package. I've used Wilson Barrels in my .45s previously, so I knew to expect a quality product. The fitting of the hood area was not difficult, but I did encounter a little difficulty in when I reassembled my glock and attempted to cycle ammo through it to "test feed". The feed ramp's angle was much more vertical that the OEM barrel, and the bullet nose would strike it and fail to chamber. Wilson likely did this to give greater support to the case head. I had to very judiciously rework the feedramp angle to that of the factory angle with the trusty dremel tool and polish it. On the upside, however, In my function testing, it ate everything I fed it, and off-hand accuracy was much better. Although the weather prohibited firing from a bench, I'm certain it will shine off the sandbags. Great barrel. A little more work in the fitting process than I anticipated, but I'm certain it will yield much improved accuracy.

In so far as Glock barrels are concerned the Wilson is by FAR the most accurate one available. Does reduce group size; no question. However this barrel needs to be fitted with a whetstone. This is in NO WAY a drop-in barrel but worth the work. If you have experience fitting parts, it's simple. If you don't, it is a "gunsmith-operation".
