I have tested this round, along with 2 others, using my Bersa 380. The test was to determine expansion, which this round did not do consistently. I fired the ammo into three 1 gal jugs of water for the test, which were compiled over several weeks as you have to drink a lot of milk! Anyway the Federals shot thru all the jugs on 3 occasions, went thru into the third 4 times while only expanding approx. 27%(.451). The other 3 stopped in the second jug with good expansion. This means they performed only at a rate of thirty percent satisfactory. They were accurate and easy on the hand but I woulh hesitate to use them for personal defense.

Excellent acuracy from my LCP and good expansion. Only gave it 4 due to expansion. It does not give as complete expandsion as the 9mm 135 gr hydrashock. penetrated 9in through 2 jacket layers and wet paper

Tested this ammo in gelatin with four layers of denim and shot three rounds; the first round partially expanded, second round fully expanded, and the third round got clogged. The two rounds that did expand were .468" and .484". Not amazing but not awful.

I know that Hydra-Shok is a great line of personal defense ammunition, and I use it in my S&W M&P 40 with excellent results. However, this ammunition does not seem to be compatible with my Kahr P380. I frequently experienced the slide locking back on a partially full magazine, caused by these rounds nudging the internal portion of the slide stop. After reading some on-line forums, I enthusiastically sanded away on the slide stop and solved the clearance problem but, as you might guess, my sanding also resulted in complete failure-to-feeds for all types of ammunition. Kahr was good enough to send me a new slide stop free of charge, and stated that they would do some extra polishing to improve clearance before sending it out. However, even with the new slide stop, these rounds still cause the slide to frequently lock back on partially full magazines. It's a great round, but I'll be looking for something else for my Kahr P380.

I carry this in my Magnum Research Micro Desert Eagle .380 backup weapon. Great tight groups at 21' range even with a 2.25" long barrel. No jams, great ammo.

I just tested this ammo as well as Hornady Critical defense JHP's in my new Taurus TCP .380. I had no issues with either ammo, FTF, FTE... and the firearm has not even been "broken" in yet. I know 25 rounds of the Critical Defense and 20 of the Hydra-Shok is hardly a test, but one box of each through a brand new firearm without any problems is enough proof for me considering the cost. Critical Defense for winter carrying, and Hydra-Shok for summer! Hope this helps.

Product will not load in my wife's Sig 232. Truncated bullet hangs up on the ramp on every attempt to load the pistol. Going to try Golden Sabers.

I have two Taurus TCP .380. I bought this ammo and Remington. I fired ten rounds of the Federal through each pistol with O failures. I had five out of 20 failures with the Remington. I know this is not an extensive test, but for now I will use the Federal.

Tried out a box with my wife's LCP. First round in each mag would not chamber without a lot of effort. Occasionally the second and/or third round hung on the feed ramp as well. I would not trust this in a defensive situation. The Remington Golden Saber, on the other hand, fed flawlessly. We will not be buying this again.

This is the ammo I carry in my Ruger LCP and KelTec P3AT pistols. I use it in 4 pistols total and it feeds flawlessly! When I got my first CHL about 5 years ago, .380 was plentiful so I bought a dozen different brands and types to test. This ammo beat everything in reliability and I recommend it without hesitation. For about 2 years, it was impossible to find and I bought some rat holed rounds for $30 during the shortage. This price is great! Thanks Midway!

Excellent protection ammo ...

Excellent protection ammo in my Ruger LCP. It fed flawlessly, expanded to a little more than a half inch, and the recoil was mild to boot. I would recommend this ammo or the Speer gold dots as carry ammo in the LCP.
