The Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension Full Length Sizer Die is a great die for the avid reloader. The CGND Full Length Sizer die features polished elliptical expanders, that significantly reduce case neck stretch. The hardened steel decapping pin will not bend or break, even when depriming cases with a crimped primer pocket. The Full Length Sizer Die also features a Zip Spindle, with a series of light threads cut on the spindle and spindle collet. This eliminates spindle slippage, and makes tightening the spindle lock a breeze when making adjustments. Shellholder sold separately.

The guy above is exactly right. These dies are not toleranced right at all and the cases are EXTREMELY difficult to get in and out of this die. Furthermore, all of the cartridges I sized with this die adversely affected the tension of the bolt on My Kimber Advanced Tactical Bolt gun. Some of the cases wouldnt allow my bolt to close at all. I had to throw this one in the trash and order a RCBS.

I have been reloading for over 35 years. The new CGND dies, size my brass as well as my Redding Competition dies. I have two sets; .308 and 243. However, the spindle assembly are to flexible. Hence, they will miss the flash hole and brake the decapping pin or bend just above the expander ball. This may not be a problem with slow single stage presses but you will have a problem with progressive presses.

Midway and Hornady both get 5-Stars from me on this set of dies. Initially I received a .308 sizing die with a flaw. Hornady replaced it no questions asked and this one is perfect - as are the other Hornady dies I use. Keep up the good work from MO and NE.

While the materials, workmanship and engineering found in these New Dimension Dies very good, I also found adjusting them for a particular bullet and case roll/taper crimp somewhat more tedious than the traditional die set. Perhaps manufacturing efficiency was achieved at the expense of the user.

I'm not new to reloading. I'm sure there are many that have way more experience than I. The problem was stuck cases. The press used was a Dillon 550. I tried both lube methods. Hornady aerosol, and lube pad with RCBS lube. The results were stuck cases That trashed not one but two new full length. Yes TWO. First time the die was stuck and that wonder expander ball would not budge. My stuck case remover simply pulled the expander right off the spindle. Thinking I had a bad one, or I had not set up the die correctly, I order another. This time I took more time on adjustment and reread the instructions. Lubed the case. Same result, stuck case tighter than Dicks hatband. Again out comes the removal kit. Pulling out the magical ball and zip spindle breaks right above ball. Ordered a RCBS full length comp die lubed case as before and smooth as butter cases came out right to spec. If this had happened once I would think my fault. But not twice. I think Hornady should stick to bullets and leave the dies to the green guys.
