Thompson Center Natural Lube 1000 Plus Bore Butter is a biodegradable all natural lubricant which contains no petroleum-based oil or additives. It reacts differently (chemically) to the combustion of blackpowder, producing far less "tar like" fouling. It can also be used to field lube bullets. Bore butter is an excellent rust preventative on external surfaces of any firearm.

Great stuff !!! I use ...

Great stuff !!! I use this for lubing my patches while shooting round balls. I have had great results and accuracy. Shooting a plastic soda bottle at 100 yards open sighted with consistent hits.

I used this around 14 years ago on my inlines and thought it was doing a good job. I liked the thickness of the lube, keeping it from running down the barrel. I found, however, that there was a small amount of rust found in the barrels after long term storage. Guns were cleaned and dried, bore butter heavily applied, but rust still found it's way there. Talked with some other muzzleloader shooters who had experienced the same. I've been using standard gun oil since, and no problems.

Works great does all the nice things mentioned but melts too easy 95+ degrees from paste to goop 100+ thick as baby oil running down the front of your black powder cylinder revolver.

Very pleasant smell. More shots between cleanings. Good for sealing revolver chambers. Becomes quite recalcitrant in cold weather. Otherwise quite a very good product.

I have used this for about six years now. Works as a lubricant and temporary block against Pyrodex corrosion so that you can go several days (a hunting trip) without having to clean your rifle. Must cover all metal parts with a thin layer of it though. Later, after water or solvent wash (and thorough drying), use it as a long term protectant for gun safe storage - apply liberally. NEVER use oil on a black powder rifle. Use this instead.When hunting, you should wipe the excess out of your barrel BEFORE loading. In bulk, it will interfere with ignition.
